This question is fairly obvious, of course it does. Although there is nothing inherently good or bad in "develops the brain." I'm not satisfied with how the current educational system functions.

I agree with you and i am a teacher. I think the education system works on backwash effect and is too product oriented but at the end of the day what option do we have in this globalised world?

Side: yes

Indeed. We must inch forward, step by step to ensure the foundation of a better educational system. Or try to fix the nomination process so we can have better politicians making better decisions regarding education. And what teacher wouldn't want more freedom in his or her classroom?

Well here is a resource (CreateDebate) where even the very young could get the hang of peer to peer interaction. Learning with peers is a more desirable arrangement than being lectured to by an authority figure who can hardly (if at all) take the time to have the sort of deeply involved conversations that are necessary to true mentorship. IMO education should not continue much beyond drilling the basics of language arts. A true mentor works to discover where the individual student's strongest curiosity lies, and they help them exercise it.

Yes, education causes the muscle known as your brain to get exercise and prevents atrophy. Reading helps develop your brain and repetition helps your memory.

Side: yes

Yes. Of'course. There is no way to refuse that my education hasn't helped one develop. Every time you read something new you learn and analyse better

No. Curiosity develops the brain. Education attempts to direct thought toward whatever the prevailing authorities deem appropriate.

An innovative mind is not a result of education.

"highly educated" blockheads abound

Side: No

I agree, curiosity and motivation develop the brain. Education most of the time is just indoctrination.

I agree with atypican. education, may OR may not develop the brain, it depends on the teacher, how he/she teaches the student. i believe that games, will help students to develop more in terms of leadership, teamwork and broaden their knowledge. education, meaning studies may not be absorbed into the brain(the info) may be too much/too complex for the student to handle. education only develops the brain to a certain extent.
