Education vs No eduaction

When I say education, I mean a person who goes further with his education after High School. A person who stops with schooling after HS is considered (in this debate) as uneducated.

The ones who graduate college usually go even further to be .. doctors, nurses, lawyers - or smaller careers like cooks, sailors or teachers. These people will have money to buy a house, a lovely car, go on vacation and stuff like that.

An uneducated person will on the other hand have less money to travel, will probably have an old car and house. The family won't have nothing, but what they have will probably not be the best you can get.

But then again, if you look at really big Hollywood stars, few of them went to college. Some didn't even graduate High school.

What I mean is, that a person who drops out of school in early age, is more likely to become a famous hollywood star.

I come from a wealthy family. My dad was a sailor, and he was gone for five months, and then be back for 7 months. I remember how I missed him so. Since my birthday is during summer vacation, he was never there for it. I think he's been for about 5 of my 17 birthdays.

But when he finally came back, he would always bring a present.

But then there was my best friend. Her father was a taxidriver, and her mother was a cleaning lady.

They didn't have a pretty house or anything, but I remember how they would go camping and go swim and fun stuff. We would never go camping, and still in my 17 years I have never been on a campingtrip.

I can see ups and downs in being wealthy and being ''average'', but what do you think?

I think you should get an education and go to college and go for the job you want and it earns pretty good amount of money because if your pay at a job is low then your not going to survive in this tough economy. I think its a great idea to get an education after high school it would be better for you and your family (if you have one)

I agree furthering your education is great but if you really want something and you have drive and motivation to do something then you don’t need college to accomplish it. Also going to college can sometime set you back…

I’m in favor of always furthering your education but it’s not necessarily needed.

Tons of people didn’t go on to college and did great (Eminem, Steve Jobs and Mark Zuckerberg drop out of college). Also going to college puts you in terrible debt making it almost not worth it to go because the money you make with your degree is all send on paying off your student loans.

If certain opportunities present themselves and people that are willing to work and strive for their goals the college isn’t needed for them

The thing is, education may not be needed in order to become great, as you have said. However, education is much more than simply becoming rich or famous. Through education, one has the chance to understand things they haven't, to be more than they can be, to experience different ideas and grow from experiences that only a college student can have. Thus, although education is not a necessity to become great as you have said, education helps to better one's understanding of the world they live in as well as how one makes choices that occur throughout his/her lifetime. Education isn't "needed," but it changes who you are in such a way that you can become a better or worse person, not just "living out life," but education gives you the chance to understand it in a new way.

But is it really worth spending a quarter of a million dollars and being stuck in debt just to get a new outlook on life?
