Emotional Support
Does the need for emotional support affect women more than men?
Is it hormonal?
A man (generally) will exude extrinsically selfish motives ie being polite and courteous for the sake of self righteousness
whereas
as woman will be more ecstatic to be the "wind beneath" someone else's wings ie intrinsically unconditional support
Agree or disagree?
why or why not?

Both sexes need emotional support obviously, but I think it's how they go about it that makes it different. Research shows that women are more likely to result better from a break up because they have other people to rely on for emotional support whereas guys don't like having to accept it as much (thinking it weak or feminine) Girls are just more willing about it I suppose. ok i am now going to add a little bit more to this-
i was participating in another conversation elsewhere online and the "group" leader who was male jumped in to say that it is best to ignore online bullies
(which by the way the site i was on is notorious for bullies-the grown up adult kind)
and it pissed me off-
i tried to explain that ignoring a bully is NOT in my asshole opinion the right way to go 'bout doing things
bullies respond to self confidence tactics way better instead-
the ignore it approach seems very callous and having heard it come from a male just made it that much worse Women live longer than men, i don't think it's a coincidence that they also have stronger coping mechanisms. Most societies teach that reaching out for emotional support is a sign of weakness. The effect of stress on the body can weaken our biological defenses over time making one more vulnerable to things like heart disease, the leading cause of death in older men. |
