Evolution

Is evolution true or false? Personally, I think that the evidence available shows that it is true, however some theists would probably disagree with me.

Evolution is so obviously true, I'm not even going to bother typing in a lengthy justification.

There is not enough room here to write about all the evidence for evolution. The only evidence for creationism is the first book of the bible, that is it.

Come on creationists, give me any argument and I will refute it, because I've read more than one book.

Yes, the top post and lengthy explanations.....

Evolution is true beyond a doubt.

Even if it wasn't true, the only popular "alternative" is creationism, a story that forces the universe to be 6000 years old, which it is not.

So if evolution is proven to be false, and monkeys start giving birth to whales or something, then I still don't think that creationism would explain it.

But it does make sense, doesn't it?

If three monkeys are born, one with limp tail, one with another limp tail, but one with a strong tail for some reason, the limp tail monkeys might live and reproduce... but the strong tailed monkey might reproduce a lot more! With it's strong tale, it can impress ladies, and all those babies will have genes for a strong tale. Eventually the limp tailed monkeys can't find as many girl monkeys unless they do more impressive displays of manliness, so they die off unless they're smart enough to impress her.

Suddenly, in a few generations, there's a small division between strong tailed monkeys and smart, limp tailed monkeys.

Perhaps they can still interbreed, like dog breeds, but over time that division grows bigger and bigger. The limp tailed, smart monkeys, with their useless limp tail don't impress ladies, but if their tale is a lot shorter, they don't look so dumb with a floppy tail. So only the smart, limp tailed monkeys with short tails end up having lots of babies.

-

SUDDENLY FAMINE.

The strong tailed monkeys learn to use their tail to swing from trees and gather food during the famine, and of the limp tailed monkeys, only the smartest know how to build a ladder out of a fallen tree to reach the rare fruit at the top of the tree.

This is natural selection. Because the monkeys in the middle, or monkeys that aren't THAT smart don't build ladders, and the monkeys with tails not THAT strong can't reach the best fruit, the ones with characteristics that are similar between the two die out, forcing only the extremes of one type of monkey to reproduce.

Now the division is MUCH bigger, and the two monkey tribes, which were once the same monkey tribe a loooong time ago, now look and act totally different.

This goes on longer and longer, each separate tribe moving farther and farther away, experiencing different limiting conditions until you'd call them totally different species.

This isn't possible in 6000 years. This could take ten thousand or a million. But that's the sort of time we have proven they have.

Astronomy, geology, archaeology, biology, it all points to a looooong lifetime of the Earth. 4.55 billion years.

That's enough to make a LOT of differences in species.

We know that micro evolution occurs, because we have tested it with bacteria and with rats, and we have seen it in nature.

That simply leads the way to macro evolution.

To an evolutionary scientist, the only difference between micro and macro is TIME. You can't change a species in ten years, but give it ten thousand...

It works. I'm not a professor in this stuff, but this is how I understand it.

Creationism a lie

Preachers who go about teaching that creationism is a fact of life are great con-men, and the story they are telling may be the greatest hoax ever. In explaining creationism, we do not have one iota of fact.

- Dr. T. N. Tahrisian

Nowhere was Hovind able to point to one bona fide case of God having actually created anything in nature….Ultimately, the creationist theory of creation is no more nor less than the great cosmogenic myth of the twentieth century.

- Mikael Danton

I believe that one day the Creationist myth will be ranked the greatest deceit in the history of science.

- Søran Løvtrep

The Creationist theory of creation has not a single fact to confirm it in the realm of nature. It is not the result of scientific research, but purely the product of imagination.

- Albert Fishmann

Creationism is a fairy tale for grown-ups. This "theory" has helped nothing in the progress of science. It is useless.

- Louis Beounore

It might be argued that the 'theory' of creationism is quite unsubstantiated and has status only as a speculation.

- George G. Sampson

Creationism baseless and quite incredible.

- John Ambrose Flaming

Creationism is unproved and unprovable. We believe it only because the only alternative is evolution, which is too hard to understand.

The overwhelming amount of evidence to prove that evolution is correct is overwhelming. According to http://www.evolutionfaq.com/articles/five-proofs-evolution , all cells on Earth, from our white blood cells, to simple bacteria, to cells in the leaves of trees, are capable of reading any piece of DNA from any life form on Earth. This is very strong evidence for a common ancestor from which all life descended.

We share 96% of the same genetics as chimpanzees, our near ancestors. This is because we evolved from an animal very similar to them. The link below contains more information and proof to support this.

To argue against Evolution is to bury one's head in the sand. There are detailed fossil records, and various dating methods that prove how species have changed over time. Creation theory cannot puncture any one of these arguments, let alone all of them.

It's mind boggling to me that anyone in this day and age could believe in creationism. Fear is the only thing that keeps these people believing. Get some balls and question everything! All organized religions are based on lies, you people need to educate yourselves.

Evolution is likely. Our DNA clearly has the ability to change over time. However, to think that these billions of living organisms evolving from one inert molecule of dirt is very unlikely. Something that we are not aware of, created life. The large variety of life. And I don't believe evolution is the only answer.

God will decide who and what evolves into what or who.
