Evolution becoming part of the UK education system, good or bad?
My next college unit is evolution and Charles Darwin Im actually quite excited myself because its an interesting subject. Anyway when I found this out I sarcastically said to my friend "my nan would love to here this" (she's deeply Christian and very much against evolution) Anyway my teacher heard and said that it is now being taught in secondary schools as well as colleges in the UK now. I personally think its a good thing but what is your opinion?

No. Evolution is a theory supported by large amounts of evidence that has yet to be disproven if ever. Please stop misrepresenting it like its an undeniable doctrine. Theists run with this and use it to further misrepresent evolution as an evil, satanic, religion. Side: Bad because...
Evolution is evil, it's about killing off the weak and stupid without the blink of an eye. That's fucking brutal and that's the fact of natural selection. If you think evolution is just a theory, and isn't satanic or evil, then you are a fool. I know just how evil and satanic it is. It is a fact nonetheless. Side: Good because...

Seems every science class I ever took started with the scientific method then went on to apply the method on specific examples. Each time the things we discussed got more in depth or complex as we progressed. The idea is to see how and why things work and not just saying that they do work. With ideas that are complex it is easier to break them up as people learn. In secondary school the depth that you discuss these issues is rather simple in comparison to the greater detail they are discussed in once you get to college. Adding evolution to school early on is a good thing as it prepares people to learn about these ideas and their nuts and bolts in greater detail later on. If a person doesn't wish to pursue this knowledge they can stop at the pre university levels of knowledge they should already have then focus on other interests. By simplifying complex ideas at earlier levels of schooling it at least assures that students have been exposed to the basic idea, whether they look at it objectively or not is another story. I'm sure this has been going on for a while now. We have just finished covering it at GCSE level and am sure I can remember even being taught it a little at Primary School. It is good because their is a lot of evidence supporting it so it is what should be taught. It has way more evidence than Creationism. Side: Good because...
Evoution has been taught in the UK for a very long time. Which rock have you been hiding under for the last century? There are plans, however, to start teaching evolution in UK primary schools. College- would that be a 6th form college (A-levels) or an adult learning college(NVQ's)? Side: Good because...

Yeah it's bad because not a lot of people are going to be using evolution in any of the careers they pursue except science. I think there just should be a class about evolution instead of putting in biology for those who want a career in something with science. Side: Bad because...
Is this a masquerade for your religious belief that evolution isn't real, or is genuinely because you see it as unnecessary. Your answer to this question will reveal the truth. If this debate was titled "World history or Social studies becoming part of the UK education system, good or bad?" what side would you be on? Side: Good because...

So is most of what is taught in school. The rest of Science you probably will never need to know out of school, with the exception with the parts about spelling punctuation and grammar you will never need English outside of School and apart from the basics you will never need to know most of Maths. Side: Good because...
