Factory farms are an abomination. I object mainly for ethical reasons. Animals are treated as mere resources. Grotesque abuses are common. For example, chickens have their beaks cut off to prevent them from killing one another due to their crowded living space. Breeding pigs are kept in cages so small they can't even roll over. Accidents often occur which cause animals to break bones and suffer other crippling injuries yet they can be left untreated for days or weeks. The list of abuses goes on and on.

These are sentient beings that can feel pain and pleasure. We are breeding them by the millions into lives that are essentially pure torture. I think this is clearly very wrong. We should have stricter laws regulating factory farms.

I object to factory farming for ethical reasons as well it is a shame that it goes on with so little ramifications for those running them. just because animals can't communicate in an advanced form, doesn't mean they can't feel pain or experience fear. Just because we are strong and have the ability to control doesn't mean we have the right to abuse or control.

I believe a good society is one where all its members are treated fairly and equally(criminals more restricted of course) and if we interact with animals as we do they are part of society yet we abuse them terribly. The implicatoins of factory farming go beyond animal abuse but if abusing another living creature is no deterrent than few if any other action will be... besides some way of getting higher profits.

OMG don't get me started - you won't like me when I turn PETA. I do get quite fanatical.

I agree that factory farming is cruel. The only way to make positive changes is by educating people about the truth. Keep up the good work.

There is NOTHING worse than abuse of any kind. So too, with animals who depend upon us, for the most part, to feed, shelter and see to their general welfare. When animals are part of "Factory Farming" which has been going on since 1890 and is fast becoming the way to raise animals for slaughter to feed the masses, it should give us pause to ask the question; "What is factory farming, exactly?" In the videos shared with us by jessald and the URL presented below, we should be asking this question; "Is factory farming really necessary in light of the treatment meted out to these poor dumb creatures?"

Of course the factory farmer will tell you that it's in the animals best interests to be confined and tortured in these ways and the Government goes so far as to subsidize their actions by giving tax breaks to those who purchase certain equipment even though they harm the animal! Cruelty knows no bounds when it comes to factory farms and neither does the farmer's bank account! There are also no federal laws to protect the animals from cruelty while they are on the farms.

Can we not find a way to raise farm animals which does not harm them, pollute the environment, endanger humans and protect them from diseases that they pass on to others? The small farms are being driven out while these disgusting factories are allowed to more or less do as they please...both to the animal and to us. The next time you sit at your table and have a fine pork roast for Sunday dinner or simple bacon and eggs for breakfast...eat hearty and enjoy. Then get up, go to your computer, click on the link below and find out how you can help put an end to this brutality.
