Why Farmers in my mind...Without Farmers, most die...Without Dr.s Some die. I would rather have a few die vs. most dying.

imaging a life without doctors would mean increase in death rates and if people keep dying who are the farmers working for, also diseases like Ebola, STD/AIDS will stay uncured imagine having Ebola but since there is no one to treat me or anyone the patient of Ebola would die and no one in the world is going to say "Go to that farmer" and priests would gain more respect by performing silly tricks to have save the disease And again if there was no medical knowledge that would mean humans aren't getting smarter but there is a saying that goes a chicken used to eat something before wheat and corn came so that means there was physicians or shaman but they are also medical related so if there was no doctors they won't be around too...

What difference does it make?? We need BOTH! It's like asking which is most important, air or water.

I think that probably doctors--that is, to be more specific--MD's--are more valuable. Given the simple reason that, in today's world, MD's are more in demand.

There is a shortage of them in America. Not so with farmers. Besides, the days of the small family independant farmer are pretty much gone. Now...with "Big Agra" we have only a few, maybe a couple dozen, huge agricultural conglomerates that produce the majority of the nation's produce.

Or..we get a good deal of our produce--especially fruits--from other countries. Like Mexico.

MD's are far more skilled. Less people are capable of actually becoming MD's than farmers. Really, anybody with half a brain can learn to farm. Whereas only a small percentage of people have the intelligence or the perseverance (eight years of schooling and then an Internship and a Residency!) to become MD's.

And many MD's are even more specialized than, say a General Practitioner. You have highly specialized skills like surgeons, with which an even smaller percentage of people can ever learn to do that type of work.

This is why MD's get paid so much more than farmers. It's supply and demand.

Heart surgeons, brain surgeons; neurologists; psychiatrists; orthopedic surgeons; ophthalmologists, et al.

And with the nation's population getting older and people living longer, MD's will only continue to become more in demand. Also, with Obama Care--which does not look as if it is going to be repealed, since Hillary is practically a shoe-in for POTUS--fewer people are expected to go into Medical School. And worse, some docs have threatened to leave the profession.

Sorry...MD's wins this one, hands down.

You can't make a truly effective debate in this situation. Farmers produce a countries/communities food and produce, which is essential to life. However Doctors provide medicine and treatment to people who can't help society because of their condition they are in. For lack of better terms Doctors some times go to other Doctors right? Doctors have to eat right? Farmers produce food right? Farmers go to doctors right? They are both a needed position to a community to have in order to survive.

That's tough to answer because both are needed. But I'll answer doctors and here's why:

1) In a global economy we don't necessarily have to have our own farmers. We can usually buy and trade for what we need to eat. Granted, it's not wise to be dependent on others externally, but it can be done. It's also true to a lesser extent some can travel for doctor assistance in other countries but for the majority of people in a society that is neither practical nor financially possible.

2) Through capitalism, right or wrong, a value gets assessed to jobs and careers. Doctors make more money because generally society values them more. Whether that's because it takes years of learning to get to what they do or it's because we have a soft spot for what they do when we're in dire need, I don't know. But generally they're paid more because we value them more.

3) As I garden (tomatoes and peppers) and see the level of work and attention just a small food grow operation can need, and then see comparable produce in the supermarket priced shockingly low, it's apparent that very few people will ever get rich via agriculture. If we valued farmers and their food as much as people in this debate might think then why would my entire garden production sell out for under $100, far less than the time and money put into it? I'm not expecting to sell anything. That's not the point. The point is people who grow food are given as little reward as possible by most societies. It may be one of the world's oldest occupations, but it earns less than the other one (prostitution) or most anything else.

Farmers following nature.

The problem with many farmers today is that they are producing food which has been genetically modified, and its consume is deteriorating the population's health.

An example is the chicken you eat everyday.

A science magazine in the 60's published the new chicken farming project. This new technology consists in grouping chicken in wired cages which will be feet away over the surface. In front of the rows of cages a canal will run food 24/7. Chicken will be eating all the time. The chicken poo will just fall from the wired cage to a wide canal located at the bottom, and this canal as a river will carry the poo to a machine. This machine will select what still is good from the poo and with new additives will return it back to the feeding canal in front of the cages.

These chicken won't see sun light in their miserable lives. Besides that, these chicken are genetically modified to have atrophied legs. With no motion available these chicken will get fat fast. Artificial light will be On 24/7 in order to impede them going to sleep.

This project became a reality in the 70's, and underground farms of this kind, about 5 miles long, have been the source of lots of the chicken you buy in the market. These chicken meat is bought mostly by carry out chicken business. Then, according to what the poo machine selects, the chicken meat you are eating is 65% chicken poo with additives. (You are what you eat) (Now you know why Europe didn't want US farm goods in those decades. Even today those concerns still stand: https://www.focusforhealth.org/the-american-food-supply-not-fit-for-european-consumption/) )

Then, after eating that kind of chicken all your life, surely your health will be compromised and surely you are going to need the help of a doctor.

On the other hand, fruits without seed is also harmful when it is understood that seeds in fruits release elements which help your body to prevent the trigger of cancer.

Eating fruits without seeds might make you a new cancer patient because the lack of that natural protection against this disease, a protection that nature included in fruits. But, who cares, right? People love St. Jude)

So, to me, farming following nature is more important than doctors. An example is the last pandemic. People with good health had not even symptoms even when they showed to be positive. On the other hand, this Corona virus, a weak virus for sure, killed and caused great problems solely to people with bad health and smokers.

Healthy people didn't need vaccines against this Corona virus.

Of course doctors are also needed because there are very healthy viruses and bacteria around, and those will have no respect for you regardless if you are healthy or not. Doctors are needed to help when people is injured, etc.

In general, farmers are the base foundation, but unfortunately food production is going far away from nature to is becoming each day more artificial.

Both farmers and doctors play crucial roles in society and contribute to its overall well-being. It is challenging to determine which profession is more beneficial, as they serve different purposes and have unique impacts.
