Fat people take up too much room in cemetery plots.

The scale of the obesity epidemic was underlined with the revelation that many crematoriums have invested in super-sized cremators. As waistlines continue to expand, more crematoriums are installing larger furnaces to cope with the increasing number of oversized coffins. Funeral directors charge families extra to transport super-sized coffins hundreds of miles to be dispatched in larger cremators because they did not fit in the local one.

Other families have been told that despite the wishes of their recently departed, they will have to be buried rather than cremated because they will not fit in the cremator. Some undertakers also charge extra for that service - to take account of the extra land used and digging necessary. Indeed, the obesity epidemic means cemeteries are having to have bigger holes dug and funeral directors need to employ more pallbearers to carry heavier coffins.

Everybody should be cremated - it would eliminate a future of overpopulated burial sites.

it is that persons choice or their families choice to have their loved one cremated. size has nothing to do with it. size is not a limit. heavier people have just the same amount of will to be buried as skinnier people so that basically is a stereotype and a horrible judgement.Who are you to say they take up to much room? That is none of your business! i'm sure there are plenty of other places to bury a loved one than the spot you are gazing at where a more hefty deceased person lay in peace.

This is disgusting. Quite unbelievable that we live in a society that ridicules people on their size even after their death. Size does not shape a person's character in life or after death. Many people bury loved ones due to religion more than convenience and there will never come a time when all people have to be cremated as it would undermine religions which would result in catastrophic consequences.

Once you die everyone has the right to be in peace where they have chosen. Nobody should be told that they are 'too fat' to get buried. People need to accept that nowadays people come in all different shapes and sizes before they judge anyone larger or smaller than themselves. Everyone should get the right not just for themselves but for their families who might want a gravestone that they can visit rather than having the ashes of there loved one. Coffins should come in all shapes and sizes just like people.
