Finger language should be taught in schools.

We can see people with problems of hearing and speaking every day and everywhere. So should finger language be taught in schools as subject to let people communicate? If finger language would be one of the subjects at school, there would be no difficulties to help each other or becoming friends.

Yes, it should be taught.

There's a few people on this site that I'd like to communicate with via finger language.

There are many deaf-mute people and many people can't understand them .It seems to me that we should be tolerant with these people therefore we should learn finger language .

Side: Yes, it should be taught.

Firstly, it helps children to communicate with people who have some problems with hearing and speaking, and I think it would develop children's feelings of care, respect and understanding. Secondly, In my opinion, it would be more interesting and useful for children.

Side: Yes, it should be taught.

I think it can be very interesting and perhaps for some students it will help to learn English or other languages and make studying process easier and funny.

I think it's a good idea. Why not help people with disabilities ... I think it's even a very interesting and not difficult. All will be able to communicate on an equal footing. People with disabilities will feel more confident . It helps to have a more interesting friends . so I absolutely support this idea.

Generally in the US we call it sign language...

In my point of view this language should be taught at schools. Also i agree with user "20130500", that it can take a lot of time. So for solution of this problem i can suggest the next: Finger language should be taught at schools, but generally. I mean, some basic gestures like "hello", "can i help u?" and something else.

Side: Yes, it should be taught.

Sign language should be taught to all even if it is merely a way to get exposure about the need!

Concerning this theme, I agree with idea. People who have problems with speaking and hearing want to speak with other people who don't have these problems, and moreover they need support and understanding. If we start to learn finger language we can associate with them. May be we will know something new from them and they from us. Also, if all countries learn this unusual language we can understand each other without words. Furthermore we'll see only our feelings and emotions. I believe that gestures of body show more about person than words. We can understand person is honest with us or not. And about process of learning, I know that people can do everything if they want and believe their abilities. Everybody can learn finger language even if it's hard.

Side: Yes, it should be taught.

It would be more justifiable if sign language was universal. That way everyone can communicate. ;)

I wish it was an option for a second language in my high school. I've learned a little bit on my own, but there's only so much I can do solo.

Side: Yes, it should be taught.

I thought it already was? Although for some reason every time I used finger language in school I wound up in the Principal's office. I guess I wasn't doing it right. :))

Side: Yes, it should be taught.

Well in my own opinion there is no such kind of need like teaching finger language because first of all it takes a lot of time to learn it and it would take time from another more important subjects at school and I don't think that we can face people who can use this language at their common life , more over I would prefer to study foreign language like Chinese or French more that finger language and I think it wouldn't take more time to learn these languages than finger . Evermore I think that school can invent special classes or clubs for people who want to study this language but not to force pupils to do that.

Spanish takes a year of schooling for the basics. So are you saying doing to the time factor it isn't relevant to understand the vast Latin culture that is springing up in america?
