For or against affirmative action in space exploration?

Space is too small. We can't waste space, as mum used to say. You know, it is really crowded out there. I am not racist, but I concerned about quality issues. If a rocket explodes, people can get seriously hurt. Noone hears screams in space, so no help crying up there. It is not a corn-field, you know. Quite literally. It is much bigger. We are talking acres. Not really big big, but you can get lost if you don't bring a know how to use Google maps.

I think space is a underrated habitat. We need all kinds of people there. Diversity is strength and we have to help the less talented experience space travel too. Parking is plenty, so I have no issues with that. Minor annoyance, that's all. There are even green people there, so as a liberal I see no problems with blacks and whatnot. I hate racists.

I think black's are better suited for settling in Space, because their brains use less oxygen. That's a good thing, i think. Space can sometimes be low on oxygen-levels. In particular in the less privileged areas where Crime-rates are high. If we shall conquer space we need prisons too.

I am writing this in the pro-column in honor of your oxygen-argument, but overall I think you yourself categorize as "less talented". Actually, I think that would be a kind assessment, as I suspect you are quite the idiot, but my manners prevent me from saying so.

You say that "black's are better(!)", while at the same time saying that you are not racist. Ha! Actually, and not many people know this, racism can go both ways! It sounds strange, but look it up will you?

Nonsense, my little friend. There are plenty of unskilled work to be done is space. A lot of planets are not so civilized, you know. Earth is not the only planet. Some are more advanced and som less. I believe the is a planet for all skill levels and all kinds of people. Maybe we will thrive in a more advanced world and minorities (less successful here) will find just a place fitting their abilities. Some planets also have a really good welfare program and no police. The people who live there don't have to steal for a living. You don't even need an ID to buy liquor, but prostitutes are hard to get by. No place is perfect.

You refer to other planets some of which have more advanced civilizations than earth and some less.

Please identify these planets as I am unaware of their existence.

My ongoing observations of man's attempts to make contact with other lifeforms/civilizations shows that no evidence of other extraterrestrial cultures have been identified.

I hope your assertion IS MADE WITH TONGUE IN CHEEK and not based on the theory that there are so many other planets out there some of them must contain life forms.

If it is the latter, then your thread is based on nonsense and not fact.

DON'T TRY TO TURN YOUR ROMANTIC THEORETICAL NOTION INTO A SCIENTIFIC FACT.

Mankind's adventurous spirit will be dampened, at least temporarily, in its quest to explore, and maybe settle on any of the teeming number of planets.

This is due to the results of recent studies which have shown that the human heart shrinks when exposed to long periods of the weightlessness as experienced in space.

When astronaut Scott Kelly spent nearly a year in space, his heart shrank despite the fact that he worked-out six days a week over his 340 day period.

The study showed that when the element of gravity is replaced with weightlessness, the heart shrinks in response.

Maybe medical science will overcome this restrictive factor and then again maybe not.

In the meantime robots could perform the role of humans in the space.

I agree - there is no demand for unskilled labor in space. Monkeys were used in the very early days, but we stopped shipping apes in 1961, except a couple of primates in 69 and 85, but that is mostly seen as a huge mistake. One of the biggest!

Let me clarify: there are no corn fields in space, nor any malls, fast food or buses that need to be driven. To be crystal clear - we are talking about minority jobs. Lets call a spade a spade., and at the same time mildy insinuate that anyone that opposes that claim would be racist. And there is NO place for racism in space, or any debate on that topic.

Instead we need skilled labor in space. Very skilled.

I guess I need to step up again. Come on everyone, our opponent thinks he can buy himself 10 minutes of racist-immunity by simply declaring that he hates racists. Can he? I don't want to take sides here, but instead feel sorry for what I can only see as a forced emigration of all types of minorities. Isn't that at the core of any earth-based, self-centered racist? I am staying, so their leaving can only benefit me!

I mostly worried about the cost of fuel. Most space traveling vehicles use s lot of fuel to get to the moon. Planets people can live on are even further away. If it wasn't for the fuel issue, I would support affirmative action taking most Africans to space. I am on the fence her.

The cost of fuel is a non-issue. We are talking about sending black people (no offense) to space. To F%#&ing space!

What we need to do is break this down: is moving africans from earth to the perils and wonders of the vacuums of space a good idea? Is it?

If yes, hell man - lets get the fuel, encourage everyone to spare a liter or two.

If no, the problem is solved.

I am not giving the answers to this one, as I suspect it will trigger a whole bucket of ugly. I am simply providing you a structure and a method for you to employ in sealing the faith of god knows how many africans. I'm out! Don't be racist, instead you should judge them all on the characteristics you believe they exhibit en mas.

Dear yesihave, if that even is your real name(?). If I wanted the opinion of an asshole I would simply fart. No offense, I probably should put you in your place without swearing, but I am busy with far more challenging debates elsewhere. I need to move on, it seems like there would be no conflict without people like me in here.

No offense taken. I think you seem like a really nice girl. Hope we can become friends. I have bowel-issues too, and is a bit shy about it. Hopefully, spring is upon us soon. The smell inside my 1-bedroom flat is intolerable. Nr#1 reason I don't date from October to April. Need to open the window.
