I know this is old but whatever. You said: "laws create order, not freedom." What about the laws that protect you? Like murder. You may not have the freedom to murder but you have more safety because of that law. So it's almost as if that law gives you more freedom, to live safely. Side: Defend Both
I'm glad you brought that up, because it does get a bit hazy. As I see it, the law creates restraint and punishes people who would otherwise do these things because they hurt other people. They take away the 'freedoms' of murdering, raping, and abuse because these things are wrong and they do damage to others. But they're still freedoms that are being taken away. They're being taken away for the right reason, yes. But they're still gone, and they're replaced with order. Order that keeps people from getting hurt by one another. It still takes away the freedom.(In this case, the freedom to murder.) It's just that nobody with morals and a right mind would outright commit any of these acts. I guess it all depends on what your definition of freedom is, though. Side: Defend Order
While I do not believe that people should have a free reign... I do believe the United States federal government is far too powerful... and more powerful than it was ever intended to be by our founding fathers. They way it should be is individual states have the freedom to govern the people of thier respective territory while the federal government should be there to protect the people rights from the states. The federal government should not be responsible for making laws and prosecuting people of the United States. That should be the states job. Right now we have both making laws and regulations as they see fit... and no one looking out for us. Side: Defend Freedom
Freedom is something that your born with...and its the most amazing feeling that you will ever feel in your life. I say this because we all need to have a little freedom in our lives so do all the other people..We just all need it because we alll need to be free once in awhile. Side: Defend Freedom
we all need freedom..because we were born to be free and if not we'd all be miserable and lost...also chaos would soon take place..i think feedom, means to live with society without having problems with eachother..with freedom there'd be peace! freedom is a thing we should have in life, expecially with everything going differently. its hard to not follow rules but without rules there'd be so much violence in this world!!!! Side: Defend Order
While this certainly seems a good sentiment, history shows that people don't live in society without having problems with one another. Those with little steal from and resent those who have more than they and those with much often maintain what they have at the expense of others. An orderly law system has shown itself to stave off the impulses of humanity to a point where society can exist with certain amounts of freedom. Side: Defend Order
Too many laws are made to discourage freedom. Dubya said after 9/11 that America's way of Freedom had been attacked. I don't believe so. America's way of order had been attacked. We are still free to do the same things that we had before 9/11. Order in America was disturbed that day, not freedom. Order has to do with the ability to not worry of being attacked or killed walking down the street. Freedom has to do with making your own choices in life. Side: Defend Freedom

The United States was always Powerful, and will tend to stay powerful. Freedom is needed in this world. But I don't know why there ain't hardly freedom in the States. I currently think freedom should be in the states, even though if it ain't all around the states, just on some certain areas. People all around this world wouldn't be able to live with order. They need to live free, even the United States. They need freedom. Although their very powerful. Side: Defend Freedom

people surely have the right to have their own freedom. people dont need other people to make their decisions for them. Freedom is the key to possability; freedom is power; freedom is everything without freedom or having the right to vote and stuff people would go crazy. Side: Defend Freedom
The government has way too much power and they use it to their own advantage, they make too many laws and everyone has the right to do what they want as long as it's appropriate. On the other hand, order keeps everything from keeping falling apart but overall, freedom is key to a happy, successful life. Side: Defend Freedom

we as people of canada have the right to be free as we want so we should accept the fact that we arnt just crazy hoodlums running around killling people is becuase we know whats the right thing to do around here and not do anything bad that hurt the family of others and in the end hurt us in the inside :) bye lose u <3 Side: Defend Freedom
im goin with both but mostly freedom becuz everybody has the riight to be free we as a nation have to have order too! if not..we are goin to pay the price and be sorry in the end..our nation needs to restore order in some areas..thats when the "pigz" come in and restore order..haha Side: Defend Freedom
freedom means alot to anyone.. there is a reason for having freedom everywhere we go and everyone we know needs freedom..if we don't have freedom people wouldn't know how to really live their lives or have the experience to make their own decisions about what path they would like follow...so yes i argree that if their was no freedom in life.. it would not be a life at all!! Side: Defend Freedom
In this World Everyone Needs Freedom in order to live life, "Yet" Everyone needs Order as well... I would Defend both Freedom and Order! We all deserve to be free and feel free to do things that makes a person happy, but it doesn't mean we need to go all wild, crazy, and be disrespectful in any way, not that everyone does something like that but some do... that's why Order needs to step in once in a while and let you know hey that isn't right, why laws were created? So a person wouldn't go too far in doing something they may regret afterwards, if all there was, was only freedom then chaos begins to creep in and Yes we also do have a right to fight for our freedom and do things as long as it would help others and ourselves! Some things are Free, Somethings aren't! We need to be able to accept that. Side: Defend Both

It’s simple. Absolute order means no individual freedom. A life is only worth living if you can live it yourself; if you cannot do what you desire, the world may be “perfect” but not something worth being a part of. Absolute freedom may also lead to the loss if individual freedom for some, but per capita there’s more freedom to be had, thus is more worth living. Logically, freedom wins. Side: Defend Freedom

I do not believe this is an either/or situation for we require laws to ensure our freedoms and order in the land. One without the other would be intolerable. We are a Democracy but it doesn't come without laws nor can we act without them no matter how good a citizen we are. Both types of laws can be over and under done therefore we need a balance of the two. Side: Defend Both

I go with order is because if we didn't have no orders, then people would think our community and others are crazy. Maybe there wouldn't even be anyone left, cause people fight and hate each other and they would of done something, thats if we didn't have no orders. So im saying i choose order and its a good thing ! Side: Defend Order
We need freedom because if there was no freedom at all there would be a lot of chaos and also people would take over sooner or later because threes no freedom and no one would listen after awhile, the world would go crazy and there would never be peace again so let there be freedom and peace. Side: Defend Order
Order is needed in our society and others. But some countries go over board when they think about order. Anyways without order EVERYONE would have the rights to do whatever the "F" they want.... and i dont think that would be a good idea. Thats all i have to say..... Bye Side: Defend Order
It's a 50/50 for me on both freedom and order. If there wasn't any order everyone would be killing. Order helps us with our safety. Freedom helps us show that we can be who we want to be. We can express ourselves. Order helps us be sane. If we only had freedom, God only knows what would happen. Everyone wouldn't survive in this world without order. Side: Defend Order
people to live without order would be anarchy and it would lead to everyone making the worse decisions about life or this world would have nothing, everything would be destroyed and everyone would be lost..most likely our world would come to an end...which people wouldn't care because without order how was things gonna get better for anyone!!! I think that if there was no order the world would be full of chos and with ouy order their is no freedom withn the world these are two of the main things people around the world look for when or bofore they go some place order is so important in any community if their was no order or freedom the world would be so full of hate disrespect and other things it would be like the end of the world Side: Defend Order

im defending order because if we had no order then the people would think that they can do whatever they want and maybe end up killing people we love, and people would destroy everthing like our homes our stores and so on...... and also our world would be in total chaos!!! Side: Defend Order
I think that the laws should be made for order, maybe because if there was just freedom rights... there would be alot more fighting than there is today. Order brings a sence of fear of someone/something greater than themselves. Without Order, I don't think there would be any Laws made... because Order brings a balance in the econemy. Side: Defend Order
Benjamin Franklin is reported to have said, “Those who desire to give up freedom in order to gain security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one.” While this might seem to support the position of freedom, we must analyze the times of Benjamin Franklin to realize that he supported the cause of order as much as if not more than freedom. We must understand that he was not speaking of liscense (The right to do whatever you desire to obtain your goals) but instead freedom (the right to act in a society to which one has assented). To be clearer, to involved oneself in any society is to place on oneself certain burdens of order and to lose "liscense." Freedom and order are not necessarily contradictory. Instead, order can allow for freedom within a society where it would not exist in anarchy. Side: Defend Order

The human race has developed under a fusion of freedom and strict policies, but between the two, humanity has undoubtedly thrived from an increased effort to preserve law and order. Literature has shown numerous times that humans need law and order. An important example is William Golding’s Lord of the Flies. In this novel, a plane crash leaves a group of British boys stranded on an island. One of the first things they realize is that they have absolute freedom. This new sense of freedom, the ability to do whatever they want, corrupts them and eventually leads them to a chaotic state. This transition is caused by human nature. As philosopher Thomas Hobbes once said, men love liberty and dominion over others. Every human wants to be on top. This, however, cannot be achieved by every person. This is best stated by a quote from Disney’s Incredibles, “Everyone can have powers. Everyone can be Super! And when everyone's Super…no one will be.” In the end, not all humans can have dominion over others. As a result, humanity must work to preserve their other desire, liberty, and the only way we can ensure liberty is to have a set of rules that restrict us from infringing on another’s. Humans require law and order way more than they need freedom. In fact, without law and order, not only would humans lack freedom, but we would also reverse 10,000 years of development and become the very beings we call primitive. Side: Defend Order
