Gender Neutral Parenting?

(Short video on Gender Neutral Parenting. Please watch before adding an argument)

This video challenges how we view parenting. Should a girl be raised as a girl and a boy be raised as a boy (gender-based parenting)? Or should the child be raised gender neutral and be allowed to decide what they want for themselves (gender neutral parenting)?

Why not raise them as guinea pigs and feed them carrots as you tell them they really are monkeys and not rodents?

As we know there are these persistent beliefs that women hold certain "positions" in life that they must fulfill. This results in huge gender bias and pressure on young women to follow these paths instead of more ambitious ones. Gender neutral parenting may be an effective way of not only eliminating these societal standards, but also seeing if there really is some "natural state", in a completely neutral society will inequality still exist?

With freedom comes sacrifices

Although gender neutral parenting comes with freedom for the moment, but it might result in potentially unintended consequences when the child grows up. Childhood is short but there would be a long way to live for the future. Moreover, a child's mind is not fully developed and thus will not consider the consequences and analyse full perspectives in making decisions which the child might regret later on.

Our contemporary society needs time and process to adapt to a new belief, and currently, gender neutral parenting is still not accepted by all and it is only an experimentation. It might instead lead to hardships for both the child and parents as a result.

Great argument. However would you be able to elaborate on what some of these harms may be? If there were a potential that gender neutral parenting results in significantly lower rates of discrimination and gender prejudice, would this out weigh the cons?
