Gender change

What do you think is it right or not to change your gender given by the nature to you? Does the nature make mistakes?

There exists an array of reasons for a person to, if they can, change their gender. Social reasons are probably the most clear, but psychological and physical reasons most likely also exist.

As far as I understand, the most common reason for gender reassignment is money. Sex tourism is huge in South East Asia, and there is a market for the transsexual, and so it happens.

I think it is fine. Shouldn't you be the gender that suits you and that you are comfortable with? Yes you should. Plus if someone changes gender they would feel better and more comfortable.

I think, gender is not some kind of cloth that people can change if it is not suits them and they will never feel themselves more comfortable in any gender than in their native.

That is so not true. Wouldn't you want to be more comfortable in something that suits you that you dont have rather than you feeling odd in what is given to you.

No. Caitlyn Jenner has not proven anything other than the fact that she is Gender Change. The existence of a famous transsexual has nothing to do with the reasons transsexuality is ok.

I strongly against any changes in human body : piercings, tattoos, unnecessary cosmetic surgeries and all the more sex change. I think that it some kind of psychological disease when person wakes up in one day with a thought that he or she is not the one who he or she was before. To my mind change of sex through hormonal effects and surgical operation does not solve these psychological problems, but only make them worse and creates a deep internal crisis. In such cases people need more professional help from psychologists than the perversion of own body.

Yes, and thats a reason why people make those changes. Trauma, physical or emotional, can cause a massive way in which people perceive, think and act. I am of the opinion that sexual trauma would be a prominent catalyst for gender change.

People are free to do as they please with their body, as far as I'm concerned. You could give someone hormone treatments to attempt to 'realign' their gender, but their mind may still have other ideas. How would you treat that? Anti-psychotic medication? Completely unnecessary...

I am not talking about such treatment as antipsychotic medication and tablet "swallowing". I meant psychological help in the form of consultation or sessions where confused people will be helped to understand the background of their problem and to cope with it without surgical intervention. To my mind it is better for people first to try in this way than to regret in the future what they had done on themselves.

According to psychiatrist Paul McHugh of Johns Hopkins University transsexualism appears not due to physiological causes. It is more appropriate to treat it by psychotherapeutic methods, rather than helpng them to become people of the opposite sex.

Then don't get them, and leave others alone to do what makes them happy.

It is a psychological problem, but there is no sudden change, they were always that way, always frustrated with their gender, to let it carry on this way, when there's something that can be done is cruel.

It's a good job you're not a psychologist then.

I think this debate was created for people to write their opinion on a particular topic and that's what actually I did- I wrote my opinion, without any imposing it to others.

I want, or already have, all those things, except the sex change. lol

If it makes someone happy why does it matter? It doesn't effect you any what someone else does to their body. And it can bring someone happiness.

"I think that it some kind of psychological disease when person wakes up in one day with a thought that he or she is not the one who he or she was before."

Technically yea. Specifically talking, Gender Dysphoria, also known as Gender Identity Disorder is a disorder and people should get treated for it. You're not gonna agree with a schizophrenic person and say that there are aliens waiting on the porch just to accommodate their reality. Same goes for a trans or a non-binary gender person. Don't throw biology out the window, your gender assigned to you by biology, is the gender you should remain.

From the religious point of view transsexualism considered as a sin. According to the teachings of almost all religions gender is given to the man by God and change it is fundamentally impossible. Even sex change surgery , according to some religions, can not in fact change the gender.

Another reason why I against sex changing is the fact that people after changing their gender often lose their family, friends and work. Many times I've heard about how people after changing gender were expelled from their homes by their own parents, were expelled from their work by their employers or were rejected in hiring a job which they apply. As a result operated people start to regret about what they have done and want to return their original gender.

People want to return their first gender because of religion as well. So, Joseph Cluses of Virginia, becoming a woman after surgery, lived for 30 years under the name Joanna, was twice married, but then said that God told him to become a man again. At 54, Cluses stopped taking hormones, and removed the artificial breast.

I believe that the gender that you are born into is what God has arranged for you and is what you are supposed to be accepted as and accept yourself as. I think that when people feel wrong about their gender is just part of the way that people feel, it doesn't mean that it's a mistake in the gender.

In my opinion people shouldn't decide to change their gender because of some significant reasons. First of all sex-change operation is complicated, pretty risky, painful operation which accompanied by a lot of complications for people and which requires a long-term recovery after it. Next, after such kind of operation people will not be able to have a children, will not get full satisfaction from sexual act (artificially formed sexual organ still can not fully replace the natural one) and will have to take hormones the rest of their life. Moreover life expectancy of operated transsexuals are not too large.

Actually, the fact that after correction of gender people do not live long is a myth and have not any scientific evidence. Even if we assume that hormone therapy and surgery cause some damage to human health, can not objectively say that they reduce the life. In most cases it's vice versa extend life, as an alternative way to suicide.
