CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.

He is the ultimate magic man he can do anything create universes ,animals , plants can do all this and still ..... No one can find him !!!!! He is the hide and seek champ of the universe .... Or maybe he is shy .....
Had a feeling you might ... It's not great to dance to and I wouldn't advise suggesting it for a date .... But it keeps the spook upstairs happy so it's all good
Ok he is not hard to find really ..... I dont believe that ,he can't be seen ,touched ,or heard yet he is there if you claimed that about anything else you would be taken away to an asylum for your own safety .
I dont believe that ,he can't be seen ,touched ,or heard yet he is there if you claimed that about anything else you would be taken away to an asylum for your own safety . I don't believe that, you cannot be seen, touched, or heard, yet you are here. If you claimed anything else, you would need to be taken away to an asylum for your own safety.
Ok so your saying I don't exist cool , ok that's fine I'm more hands on than your ridiculous god the ultimate hide and seek champion ..... If you want to get into a big debate about the nature of existance ,I have done it to death .... By the way if I can't be seen heard or touched again fine .... Read the question that's what I am answering
I am pointing out the fallacy of your circular reasoning. He does not exist, because I do not believe in Him, because He does not exist. That is wholly illogical and you know it. Back up your statement with facts, or all you have is conjecture.
Ok let's say we are talking about the Christian God .....if the Christian God is not omniscient or omnipotent...in that case your God is not a God and doesn't exist
God is a being of pure love he knows everthing yet according to the book of fairytales(bible) he is responsible for 2.8 million murders ..... Bit of a contradiction , pure love ha ha ha hate to see him angry.....,
I know what your saying its a good point , I asked a bishop many years ago to define God he said " he is a being of pure love " so of course I asked " why did he kill 2.8 million people according to your bible " and my answer was " because he is God " I think we always have to ask if there are Gods what would there nature be ,and believe me they will tell you nearly always a god of love . I think your point is interesting a god that just created the universe , but the problem is the God word as used in our tradition ( Roman Catholic for me ..long gone thankfully ) and mainstream Christianity as in USA Europe etc, i think to make the debate broader we have to define what is God if he exists what is his nature and purpose , the nature of the God you describe can't exist according to what all religious texts say about Gods nature, a God that just created a universe is not feasible according to there sacred books because it does not fit in with there religious views .... Wish he would just send a text or come out for a beer ,and settle the whole debate .... Don't hold your breath ....,
You didn't actually dispute his point though. The first gospel was PUBLISHED(or recogocnized is a better word) 1 or 2 decades after his death. Many ancient historians back up his death. One tried to dispute his miracles but could only dispute where his power came from.
The question is presumptuous, It's like asking someone "have you stopped beating your wife?" If he says yes or no he admits to doing it both ways. The question assumes that God needs a beginning, but since God is eternal by definition He doesn't have nor need a beginning; he just is.
This is something we will have a difficulty of understanding in our lives. He was simply there, and always will be. He has no beginning or end. We find it so hard to understand this because we have such an intense time system. Humans are unfamiliar in areas where time gets screwy, such as in certain areas of quantum mechanics, and since they can't grasp a real-life example of it can't really wrap their minds around it.
Think about it this way: if he didn't always exist who would have created the universe? There would be nothing at all and this entire universe, any parallel universes, and everything outside of these universes would never exist. There would be absolutely nothing, and since nothing wouldn't even exist and yet it did exist, it would create a horrible paradox that couldn't exist either because paradoxes wouldn't exist, and it would be a huge nonexistent mess of endless nonexistent paradoxes.
Wow... um well let's see... Wasn't there this thing called the big bang that began the universe? Yeah sorry but the universe isn't eternal. It had a starting point.
Actually no that is false. The big bang being the end all be all for the explanation of the universe is a misconception. The big bang explains how our universe formed, everything still existed before the big bang just as a singularity. Also haven't you heard of the other theories associated with the big bang? Have you heard of the cycle theory of our universe. Well their is the theory of the big crunchis an explanation to the universes end on the other side of the coin of the big bang called the big crunch. (Think of the big bang happening in reverse). The cycle theory is that our universe is going through a cycle of crunches and bangs. Regardless everything that lead to the big bang existed before the big bang which would be the singularity.
No, we have scientific proof that the only things going on before the big bang were quantum fluctuations. For the universe's creation one of these quantum fluctuations would have required enough energy to make it self-sustaining, and it would have then erupted into the big bang. The problem is, where did the energy come from? Nothing else existed then. An external source was required, and that's where God is necessary.
Obviously a fallacious argument. The hidden premise being (as everyone as pointed out) that God began to exist. I see no reason that an atemporal being would need to "begin" to exist.
God didn't just poof up out of nowhere. Without Him, we wouldn't even be alive, because He created the universes, the solar system, the planets, the continents... well, you get what I mean. He wants us to have faith in Him because in the end, all the believers will just go to heaven and have eternal life while the non-believers will... according to the Bible, go to eternal death (Hell). :(
