Explanations on why it would stop gun violence I didn't say stop, merely that it would reduce it. If it is harder for people who would use guns to get guns, then fewer of them will get guns. I think that's pretty clear. In places where there are stricter gun laws, there is less gun crime. It does not obliterate gun violence, but it lessons it for sure. and would it pave a way for tyrannism? That was not a part of the original question of the debate, but I can answer. Is it tyrannical to have any laws at all? Any regulations? Is it tyrannical to have to have licensing and registration on your car? Define your terms, and why you think that having control over weaponry is tyrannical. The second amendment literally says that guns should be for a "well-regulated" Militia. As in regulated well. Not entirely. Few "cures" work as total "eradicators" of a problem. Seat belt laws still allow highway deaths, but have saved thousands of lives. Some Americans seem to think little of their country. For some reason they think we have an epidemic of mental health problems here that the rest of the world doesn't. The rest of the civilized world has no where near the number of gun deaths Americans have, but, it's all due to "mental health problems"! Several examples of it are shown daily on "gun violence" polls, so, maybe they're "right" .... (pun intended)! Side: Yes

It eliminates the need for a gun. Criminals won't need a gun any more. Also, if non criminals can't get guns it will reduce the overall number of guns coming into the area making the supply of guns for criminals go down. But, it doesn't matter because the criminals that already have guns become more powerful and it doesn't matter how few they are in number, they will still be able to cause trouble. Side: No
Its not the gun, its the person that has the gun is the one who's responsible for it, Since we have this law called the law of Inertia, and majority of gun violence is done by a mentally ill person and most of it is the cause of drug influences etc. So yes we can have screenings for the gun holder's mental, physical etc health.
