Hard work can definitely be a key to success, but it's not the only one. I'm sure you've heard the phrase "work smart, not hard."

It's not the the mutually exclusive key to success, in that it's the only way to get it or it will definitely get it. It however can be a key to success, just like being born into success. Or in the case where your hard work does not pay off and no success is achieved.

There is no definite key to success.

Side: no

It's something called hitting the lottery. Also just post a dumb youtube video and you'll be successful.

Ask all of the fat cats in the fortune five hundred and in washington... while "hard work" and "success" are clearly subjective terms, I don't see much back breaking labor in the top rulers of the worl and yet they could be considered successful.

Pretty much all the greatest minds in history are lazy. (e.g Einstein, Hitler, Bill Gates)

Being a hard worker is an admirable feat to see, but in the end it is still the wise one who dominates the field. Great thinking requires great amount of time to ponder, which is why cleverness always come with laziness.

Are you nuts? Either you are just trolling, or you've been seriously misguided. All three of those people were incredibly hard workers.

Einstein was branded as "lazy dog". He was so lazy that it was his wife who wrote down the relativity papers.

Hitler was branded as "lazy dictator".He is an indifferent dictator who was really not interested in involving himself much in the daily running of Nazi Germany.

Bill Gates left a very famous quote that says; ""I choose a lazy person to do a hard job. Because a lazy person will find an easy way to do it"

Hard work in the wrong direction, not really a KEY TO SUCCESS

Anyone who works hard in the wrong direction will get success in the wrong direction. So the proverb 'hard work is the key to success' will even be true in this case.
