Has the music gotten better?
I'm mostly thinking of John Mayer, Phillip Phillips, and other real musicians that are getting real big nowdays.

Electronic music is a booming. Some people are trying to make it more boring by merging it with overused cliches or applying it to standard pop compositions. That doesn't, however, mean that electronic isn't the new revolution in music, because it is. Classical was the thing once, then it was rhythmic and now it's electronic. Just like any other main-category there's a lot of bad stuff, but the reason I think music is getting better is because we needed something new. People are really starting to notice electronic music now, and that's good because that means a lot more people will start composing. Writing electronic music doesn't take much more than compositional skill and intuition. You do need to learn the software but you don't really need to be tight, and you don't need to know how play with others, because you don't need a band. Exactly because electronic music can be so individual, and since producing is basically free, people can write whatever they want without having to take care of money or fame (sure it's nice to be famous, but you don't need to sell yourself to pop culture). This is good because that means that we will see amazing amounts of novelty. We will see a lot of garbage, I am sure of that, but I also think we will hear some brilliant stuff. Just think of it, it's almost as if a new genre is found daily. Drum n bass mixed with dubstep, or the weird offspring of drum n bass known as neurofunk, and then there's liquid drum and bass. People are exploring all sorts of different rhythmic foundations, and all sorts of different sounds, different levels of complexity etc. It's really incredible how much is being done. So yeah, it's safe to assume that we will see a whole lot of totally novel stuff, and I think that's pretty much the same thing as saying that music is getting interesting again, if not better. John Mayer is pretty good, but he isn't getting any more popular... at least from what I can see. The music that is growing in popularity is mostly garbage like Justin Bieber and various rap artists... oh, and Dubstep. Certain artists are improving, but apparently the majority of listeners don't care unless the bass sounds good on their car speakers and their $300 Beatz headphones. I'm sure Bieber will be the next child star to get deep into drugs and miss one court appearance after another, but he's still insanely popular. There are literally girl stampedes wherever he goes. Mayer isn't nearly as popular, at least in America he isn't. Is he big in Denmark? Side: It's getting worse every year
Hell NO. Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin, Haydn, Shostakovitch, Glen Miller, Elvis Presley, The Beatles, Rolling Stones.
Up until the 70's, Music was great. Then computerised noises came along, and people were no longer interested in music, only noise. Granted there have been a couple of songs here and there lately, but modern music as a thing, rap, pop, techno, it has all sucked big time. Side: It's getting worse every year
Music has had it's ups and downs since the 1920's if not before that time even. One real good way to tell this is if everyone is singing about the same freaking things and all it is about is breaking up and then marrying and then breaking up again then surely the people are only in for the money. Music is suppose to be about personal experiences and life. I don't give a rat's @#$ about your relationship problems. Side: It's getting worse every year
