"hate speech" according to the libtards is anything that can be considered offensive, therefore ALL speech is hate speech. so we must have have a world full of mutes. which is what happens when you argue with retarded people.
It depends on the definition. The "speech expressing hatred of a particular group of people" one is real. You can express hatred for a group.
However; If you are referring to the " You offended me" as being hate speech, then no. The problem with this idea, is that you don't say this version of hate speech, you hear it. What I mean is that the person saying it isn't the judge, The receiver of the idea is. This makes saying anything a potential issue. When you stop the spread of ideas, you stop progress.

As for hate speech, if I were to say "I hate niggers" then by definition and by my own admission that would be hate speech. It would be speech which is motivated by and an expression of hate. It's really that simple to prove that "hate speech" exists. In my view, hate speech of that kind stems from ignorance. When people engage in legitimate hate speech, it's because they were conditioned to have illogical and sometimes dangerous attitudes towards certain groups. Hate speech should not be viewed as a legal issue unless it is threatening, instead it should be considered an educational/cultural issue and a symptom of ignorance.For the record, I don't think hate speech against certain things such as religions should be considered ignorant or unacceptable. attacking an ideology or belief system is okay, only things like racism and sexism should be considered "hate speech".
If hate speech crimes were enacted, then every pro-Israel administration could lock you up for anti-semitism if you are critical of Israeli military action, while every pro-Palestine administration could lock you up for Islamophopia if you are supportive of Israeli military action.

I would have to disagree. Making hate speech illegal would not only violate the freedom of speech but would also potentially be abused to hell and back. People getting offended would have more rights to take people to court then those who simply have an unpopular opinion.
I agree. Think of how much people are already quick to call the police for non-issues that they do not personally agree with, which can potentially restrict others or attempt to intimidate them out of normal, acceptable behavior, then blow that up by orders of magnitude if such 'hate speech' restrictions were put in place.
I think one of the major contributing factors is everyone thinks their opinions are valid to everyone else and if offense is taken it must receive an apology and subsequent validation. It shouldn't. I think there are genuine instances where offensive materials should be addressed but they are shadowed by people simply being offended because a minor viewpoint of theirs isn't a shared opinion. An example would be, it is offensive to joke about raping a child vs. someone is offended for the sake of another culture and wants to claim cultural appropriation.
Have you considered that some views you hold could be considered hateful from a different person's perspective, and thus leave you vulnerable & subject to the same rules you wish to enforce?
This isn't about views alone. While at the extreme end we have hateful views in and of themselves, there's hate speech beneath that in the spectrum... Where how you're saying it causes offence and pain that different wording would not.

There is absolutely no one who would choose to be offended or made sad/angry in such a way they want to put you in prison for doing it to them afterwards or want you fired for doing it. I am not denying masochism or people being into Horror/sad movies/series etc. I am talking the kind of offence that BLATANTLY no one would choose to experience. I am a supporter of BDSM and understand that in a comedy show or consensual abuse environment, speak your hate speech away. I consider consent to be sacred.

College students who choose to be offended have rioted on campus to shut down supposed offensive speech or kick out supposed offensive professors. You’re being naive.

How and why some people are thin skinned isn't at issue here. The fact that they are, and that thier thin skin does not deserve the force of law, is what's at issue.
It's a fact that Berkeley students rioted over being offended by Milo Yiannopoulos causing the campus to spend $600,000 to prevent a violent repeat with students offended by Ben Shapiro. University of Michigan students were so offended by Professor Bret Weinstein, that he won a lawsuit against his university for failing to protect him from "repeated provocative and corrosive verbal and written hostility based on race, as well as threats of physical violence".
Why and How these students should not be allowed to lock up their opponents for being offensive is irrelevant. If these offended kids had the force of law, they absolutely would use it.

I asked you if 'hate speech' should be a jailable offense, and you stated "if you do not have anything nice to say, word it appropriately"--or else, presumably. Then, BLM clearly has a lot of 'not nice' things to say or even fundamentally based around a hatred of the police force. Does that then mean they should be held to the rule you proposed? If not, why?

Second, if someone says "Trump is a pathetic loser, and needs to be stopped. I hate him!"--should that be a criminal offense? What if the word "Trump" was replaced with some other person or group? Would that make a difference?
I don't see what you are getting at. I do not support a BLM member who is too crude or threatening to the cops etc to be able to find a decent job or redeem themselves easily.
