No, way worse! I was indoctrinated into Christianity and told I'd go to hell if I didn't believe what they were telling me. It was horrid. All I could think about is the injustice for some child born and who never would hear of this god and so through no fault of their own would be damned forever. And while many idiots would see this as some kind of calling to spread the word, I not being an idiot knew that no amount of spreading the word would get word to every child. This kept me up at nights as a child. What sort of god would damn someone for eternity? Anyone for eternity? Even should they commit the awful crime of not knowing about a god, surely you could just zap their brain or something and make them a better person, or at least just keep your eye on them and stop them from doing bad stuff, I MEAN YOU'RE GOD! How hard could that be?

Granted I was a small child and the sparks of enlightenment were just that. Sparks quickly buried in a comfy blanket of indoctrination once again.

Later my arguments became more complex. I began to think, "gee, what if you told someone and they still didn't believe? Like, I hear of other religions and I don't believe them because they are silly and I know they're silly because I'm obviously right because obviously this is what I've always been told..."

Wait, I believe it because I've always been told it.

But if someone else is always told something different wouldn't they feel the same as I but about something different?

So how do you know who's right?

Well, me being empathetic and smarter than the average Christian, the whole regular "you just really really really feel that way therefore it must really really really be right" reasoning didn't work because even as a child I realized others were capable of feelings equal to mine and in completely opposite directions.

So that seed basically sat in my brain for years. Then in early adulthood at the Catholic University I went to we actually had to study religions.

Opposite of the intent of those studies perhaps, but it was then that I realized it was not some horrible god doing this to us. It was not a god at all. It was people.

I came to appreciate knowledge and curiosity, and to admire human ability to reason and come up with solutions and to want to be more then themselves.

Then I began to see religion for what it truly is. All of the hell fire and damnation and scaring kids aside, there is something far more nefarious going on. Something far more evil.

Religion murders curiosity. It buries and denies logic and knowledge. Sure, it offers the poor an occasional loaf of bread from overflowing coffers or riches freely given, mostly from those very poor, but in exchange for a fealty to strict and uncompromising dogma.

Religion is anti-human by its nature. It's de-evolution. And in the end it can do nothing for us that we could not do for ourselves.

That is what religion has done not to me, but to the world.

It's way, way worse than being pushed off a swing.

the man in the video is like other similar fake videos, more common for Muslims, "hundreds of scientists" instantly converting to Islam/Christianity ...bla bla ... people who don't even exist.
