CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.

When you are ready to voice your opinion, use the Add Argument button to create an argument.
If you would like to address an existing argument, use the Support and Dispute link within that argument to create a new reply.
go tell that to almost every single culture that has some type of reptile shapeshifter as they're god, and I never said I didn't know, like your GIF says, all im basing my conclusions on is common sense
ancient people didn't just draw shapeshifting aliens on their walls without knowing about them
Your "explanation" of the Biblical talking snake is that other people in other religions believe(d) in shape shifting reptiles. That is not an explanation at all, but a restatement of the question. I am sure that earlier peoples who believed in shapeshifting reptiles were just as equally dilluded and irrational as the present peoples who believe that snakes talk. That they believed in things does not mean they had proof or knowledge to substantiate their beliefs anymore than the contemporary theist does.
That was hardly scientific, I want you to give me a biology and physics related answer as to how this can scientifically happen, with proof, as and scientist knows you need solid proof, experiments with variables e.t.c.
I can't give you scientific proof, but I can give you the fact that buddhist monks, in the ancient times they had reports of psychic beings who infiltrated their group in order to disrupt the harmony, and if you look at the questions for becoming a monk, one of the questions is, are you a human being, and the reason for that question is reptilians
I kno0w its far fetched but the universe is a gigantic place and we have a lot of historical stories about these things, something inspired them, hell theyre even in the bible
There's a guy who was working in the World Trade Center, when suddenly he got a supernatural urge to smoke. So he left the building, right before it was hit by a plane. Explain how that happened without divine intervention.
its not divine intervention, he was obviously meant to live for some reason, and that is due to others choices that affected him, your question is invalid.
There's no reason to assume the supernatural even exists, it is because of this that you CAN give these scientific answers. This is a wierd debate. No atheist will ask you to explain a supernatural occurance....
reality exists in different dimensions, this is fact, religion has been trying to tell us this for years, but we have interpreted it wrong, and all we are doing with science by "unlocking the universe" is backtracking because once we advance to the point of biotechnology all our machines except our brains will be useless
Given that I do not think there is anything that qualifies as supernatural, I cannot acquiesce to your request. So how about you start by explaining why I should think that the supernatural exists to begin with?
Wait. Actually... shouldn't this be titled "hey theists". If you are explaining the supernatural with science then you are proving that the supernatural is not supernatural. Confused.
no the supernatural is perfectly natural science, our mind is one of the greatest machines in the universe, it can pick up all kinds of waves, including thought and emotion, which is where most religious experiences come from
If something is supernatural then it is, by definition, attributed to some force beyond scientific understanding or the laws of nature. If you can explain it with science (let alone natural science) then it is not supernatural.
look, IF, and I believe it does, the supernatural exists, that means it is perfectly natural we just think its so bizarre that it can't be natural, but it is
Essentially you are saying that the supernatural does not exist. What the religious view as miracles or god's presence or what have you is actually just natural phenomenon that we just don't have the science to explain yet. So... hey theist, looks like you are still proving the atheist point.

all I can tell you is they are true based off my experiences throughout my existence, and through history, including shamanism, druidism (which are basically the same thing)
shamans were delved into the quantum realm, this is where you go during your dreams and meditation
And I don't believe in a higher being, I believe in a higher force that governs everything and cant be described, only felt and experienced, and it never came into existence, it has always been here
Hmm, many people disagree. I tried to have a 'think-out-of-the-box debate with some people, in which they all assured me that two people can't think alike. But they have no evidence to prove so ( so I don't know why I am disputing you." Yet today's science says two people can't think alike. maybe in a few hundred years people will say otherwise, who knows?
