Homosexual material in Primary schools...

This was the most recent article I could find but for those of you who think the BNP may be a bit biased:
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/2967796/Primary-schools-should-celebrate-homosexuality.html
and a very brief description:
Basicly, 14 primary schools (thats education for 4-11 year olds) have been selected to try a new project which involves giving children books that say "being gay is ok"

In primary schools any sexual content is wrong in my opinion. Currently in the UK "sex education" is taught but it is an education of reproduction in biological terms...not sexuality. Also it would be of no benefit...children are naturally open minded if brought up well. I can't even remember specific heterosexual material to be honest. However, any casual homophobia (such as "gay" being used as an insult) should be stopped. Though the children may not fully understand it...they should understand it is wrong. Side: wrong

Material that is entirely based on acceptance of homosexuality is wrong, as is anything designed to shape a child's view on a particular agenda. I'm on this side because I believe that excluding homosexuality from a child's life can lead to negative sentiment in some, in later years of this particular way of life as something unnatural and new that needs to be treated with caution. Children's books and school materials should include homosexual couples as well as straight, in the same vain that they do White, Black and Asian with out a mention of whether it is right or wrong, just that it exists so that they know it is normal. I think it's just a PC ploy to be making books specifically about gay couples. Okay, I get it, you really want kids to know about gay life. W/e. To me, as long as there's nothing graphic in the books, the teachers should be allowed to show kids King and King for story time. Personally, if I were a teacher I'd pick books like Parts or Captain Underpants, but that's because those were books that didn't focus on some political agenda... they were just fun. I believe that if the curriculum taught kids to accept people for who they are, we wouldn't have to deal with bleeding hearts who create books specifically to rub gayness into our kids' faces. But like I said, they should be allowed to because, to me, gayness is like every other culture. I have more of a problem with bleeding hearts. But I'm totally accepting of gays. Side: Right

Eleven is just before the magical "changes" of adolescence that tell us if we like boys or girls. Seems to be a great age to address homosexuality as a normal lifestyle and take the issue out of the closet. Education is the key to an open mind. At the school I teach at are many children of same-sex partnerships. It's important for them and their classmates to understand that homosexuality is perfectly fine. Side: Right
