English is an African language. For instance, it's the official language of Nigeria (among other places). So is French, Dutch, Arabic and innumerable other languages and dialects in other parts of Africa.

I went to school with a girl from Nigeria and she had a good attitude to but now that she has been living in the slums she has this "Black Attitude" and she talks way differently.

I don't have a problem with the term African American if it was used as equally as irish american, italian american, polish american and all the other 'americans'. But it's not. That is why I think it is just stupid. It's all for black people to pat themselves on the back because they have a term for themselves.

It is a politically correct insult. They are Americans. Call them blacks, negroes, just so long as it is accurate.

Their ancestry may have been from Africa, but I wouldn't call them an 'African' unless they were born in Africa. I just call them Negroid, just as I call whites 'Caucasoid' and orientals 'Mongoloids'.
