What I'm about to say may offend some people who don't take the time to read this in its entirety, check the links, or investigate the facts for themselves. Obama is a great speaker, there is no doubt about that. He is charismatic, charming, inspirational, and extremely intelligent.

However, as far as being among the greatest of U.S. presidents, I strongly believe that he is not. For the record, I voted for Obama. I was among the masses that were moved by his speeches and sweet talks of a new America, change, his slogans of "yes we can" etc. I cried upon listening to his inauguration speech.

It's been a year now and I am sorely regretting my decision. Not only is Obama NOT a great president (in my opinion), he is quickly becoming a very dangerous one. A great president should be considered so by his actions, not his words, and these two in Obama's case are blatantly contradictory. He has broken the majority of the promises he made during his presidential campaign. I consider many of these infringements to be hypocritical and in many cases anti-constitutional:

Obama won the nobel peace prize "for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples." He has since sent thousands more troops to the middle east.

Obama promised to get rid of lobbyists, and yet after being elected, he has filled the white house to the brim with them.

Obama promised never to use signing statements during his presidential campaign. He has since issued numerous signing statements, an act that threatens the checks and balances of our government.

Obama has issued over 10 bills to undermine the second amendment (right to bear arms) which gives the government the power to disarm any citizen at will, and places large restrictions on the ability to purchase guns.

There's more. Obama undermines free speech. Obama is building a civilian army that takes orders directly from him. Obama expands on Bush's policy to wiretap people. This is all easily researchable.

A great president is an honest one, and the facts show that Obama has been dishonest. He works for Wall Street. He works for the world bank. He works to create a "New World Order' which is basically a world government, where Prime Ministers and Presidents and Emperors are nothing more than puppets in a global scheme controlled by Banks and Corporations. It's disheartening to know that freedom, true justice, and principles laid out by our founding fathers, principles that made our country great, might come to an end under Obama and his administration. Yet the average American is completely ignorant or complacent about these facts, or they cling to a belief, as I did for some time, that this president truly is different, that he is our savior.

I don't know yet whether I'm against Obama as a person or not. Either he was sincere about his promises, and was forced to do what he is doing by the military industrial complex and shadow government, or he is the greatest con man this nation has ever seen. Either way, with the path we're on now, with Obama creating a sort of cult of personality, liberty will die, and it will die with thunders of applause.

I think it's too early to tell. Some people love him, while others call him a socialist, communist, or future dictator. Currently, he's doing fine, but that may have something to do with the fact that he's only been in office for about a year and hasn't done anything too major yet. Only time will tell.

Abraham Lincoln

Thomas Jefferson

Dwight Eisenhower

George Washington

Teddy Roosevelt

Ronald Reagan

Harry Truman

George Bush Senior

FDR

Richard Nixon

and that's it. Those are the only presidents who ever did REAL good in this country. Obama basically has to do some REAL good and he can get up there. Starting with Nixon. If he can become allies with Mahmoud and Castro, than he matches Nixon.

I totally agree. More advice for Obama:

1. leave healthcare programs alone. We were fine until he messed with it.

2. Iraq: stay for the long run. There are 2 ways to win this war: employ total warfare like Sherman did in the Civil War; or stay there until al quaeda and whoever else is over there gets the balls to confront us. Then kill them all lol

3. Employ more "average joes" in the government. If you listen to the average cubicle worker in a politcal argument, he or she usually have some good ideas.

That's right! I am a Joe and that's what I say. I have some really good ideas ;)

Side: Wait and See

No worries. Presidents that don't rate don't get a second term ;)

good point. never thought about that. my only concern is that he may be laying low until his second term. i may just be a paranoid 14 year old though.

Side: Wait and See

Obama doesn't rate even close to the greatest US presidents because he is only one year into his term.

i dont think there were any great us presidents. seems like the majority of them have done alot of damage, whether attacking other countries, or bullying native americans, or enslaving africans. i dont think any of them ever had the general publics interest in mind.

Side: Wait and See

I think so. Maybe he will one day be put on Mt. Rushmore.
