First off in terms of if China is better than the USA it really depends what you are looking at in terms of what makes one country better than another.

For this point though, it really does depend on who the people are. And often the more people there are the more resources that are needed. Which means the more money that is needed. Which often leads to constant spending by the government resulting in debt and a crashing economy. Smaller countries have a better chance of sustainability and success.

No because a huge population often causes poverty among the state. A huge population would also give the government a hard time to cater the needs of the people. It would also be hard to educate the young due to their numbers. Strength in numbers is not a good factor in a nation always.
