I don't think that Chavez was trying to be mean to Obama. I mean....

"Chavez, a vehement critic of the U.S. "empire," has toned down his rhetoric since Obama took office in January and the two men shook hands during a summit in Trinidad and Tobago in April."

See? The shook hands. They're buds ;)

it was obviously a joke, but there's some truth in it as well.

the government is taking control of a private corporation... selling and making cars. fuckin' awesome, right?

we're obviously falling quite easily into the elimination of Capitalism, but we're starting off small. Just give the government the ability to take over a corporation until it "gets back on it's feet" which can be interpreted differently and more extremely as the years go on.

Ah brilliant...

ignoring that GM could have said no to the bailout and government didn't march in with storm troopes, it would have meant hundreds of thousands of layoffs instead of tens of thousands of layoffs had government not bought out 60%.

I didn't realize that the 60% share came with an amendment which makes it unconstitutional for all other companies to make automobiles...

The fact is, free market needs oversite, otherwise it only works to consolidate itself at the bereft of the many.

We haven't had oversite,

and while the few have amassed wealth, the rest have lost jobs and money. Today there is a greater gap between the wealth of a CEO, and a worker making minimum wage, than a slave and a pharoe in ancient Egypt.

Anyway, what would you propose we do about all these companies going under?

I'm not against just letting them go bankrupt necessarily,

but what's to stop it from happening again?

I'm confused.

I didn't realize left and right were political parties or that Chavez and Castro had ran for legitimate elections in a free society where an overwhelming number of the population chose them to lead their country for a period of four years to eight...

I certainly hope he is. Capitalism, in a global context, relies nearly as much on slavery as feudalism did.

Anonymous downvoting only makes my argument look unpopular but irrefutable. Thanks, morons.

hm, I gave you an upvote too, I think I know the problem...

you see, your one liners take entirley too much thought for one to both down vote and think of a clever quip.

brain just know something hurt it, no know why!

Least that's what I imagine happened.

I am not surprised. Has Obama countered it or is happy that it has been said.

I really recommend you stop participating in political debates until you have taken a civics/government class. It is incredibly myopic and useless to view the political spectrum as one dimensional.

This is one of the most accepted models by political scientists. As you can see American conservatives are far more extreme than American "liberals." Our country is one of the more conservative Western countries. A moderate Republican here would be a strong right wing conservative in Europe, and a moderate Liberal here would be a centrist.

I'm serious ask someone who lives in Europe what policies they think are strong-leftist and then tell me that Obama is extreme left-wing.
