Human is animal?

Yes

This is an established fact of biology. What would a human be categorized as if not an animal? A plant? A mineral?

Side: Yes

Not sure why this is really up for debate. Humans evolved from chimps, and chimps are animals, therefore, humans are animals.

Side: Yes

Humans and chimps actually evolved from the same ancestor. So chimps started around the same time as humans.

We just ended up better off (after all, we use them for experiments).

Good point. Of course the human species is an animal. It eats, breaths, needs warm conditions to survive (Mammals) the only thing that defines a human being is its intelligence. With out that, we're just another, Animal!

Side: Yes

Yes, humans are a species of animal. Or "is animal."

Side: Yes

Humans are mammals so when you think about it yes humans are animals. Humans are more special then animals since they are at the top of the food chain.

... unless you're in the ocean with a shark, or a cage with a tiger... but okay.

Side: Yes

Humans are mammals and some animals are mammals, but what else could we be called...?

Side: Yes

Humans are mammals, a mammal is an animal so basically ,humans are animals. We are also animals because of how are body is composed of cells and cannot produce are food, all animals are built up from cells and cant produce their own food.

Side: Yes

We are nothing more than a collection of cells, just as the other animals are. In fact, many of our cells are exactly like other animal cells. We certainly aren't physically superior to most animals. The ONLY thing we have going for us is a relatively complex language. And having a complex language is NOT a waiver from being animals. Imagine how we would be today if we only had the communication abilities of a gorilla or dog.

Yes "CriticalEYE" But it seems some people here won't accept that! Of course you are speaking the truth. Look up in the dictionary Animal. Animals are living organisms characterized by voluntary movement. We all have cells containing responses to stimuli, and all animals alike ( humans included) have complex organs that allow them to live. Now, are we animals or not... Lemme answer. Yes, we sure are!

Side: Yes

I have always heard this concept explained to me since I was a child.

What about critical thinking which was given only to human on the Earth. Doesn't it make us unique from all creatons and we are more than animals?

1. Critical thinking wasn't given to anyone, it's a natural part of evolution. Those humans who think through, even to the extent of "thinking about thinking" do so because for hundreds of thousands of years those that did so were more likely to survive and have kids who intern were more likely to inherit these traits and so on.

2. There is no evidence that other primates, lower animals even, don't use some primitive sorts of critical thinking depending on how it is defined.

3. Nothing was "created," we developed through millions of years to what we are due to environment and the proclivity of cells to split and multiply at the most base level.

so, you are saying that human is animal, then it means you think that you are an animal. By the way, don't compare yourself . To my point of view human is a human. at the same time comparing the structure between human and animal , it is like an earth and heaven. it means there are differences in srtucture. also, animals can't talk and can't express their feelings. They can't create some events and so on.

Holy shit, the confidence with which you proclaimed as fact sentence after poorly-written sentence of retarded opinion just made me hit my head on the keyboard.

so, you are saying that human is animal, then it means you think that you are an animal.

><... Was this an epiphany for you? I hope your 5 years old otherwise there may not be hope.

By the way, don't compare yourself.

What? Why wouldn't you compare yourself? That would be the point. And upon comparing yourself you would find that indeed, "you are animal."

at the same time comparing the structure between human and animal , it is like an earth and heaven

We have the same structure, actually, us and animals, in nearly every way possible.

animals can't talk and can't express their feelings

They can and do express their feelings constantly actually. They cannot talk, but they can communicate in primitive and simple ways, the same way humans first began communicating in some instances.

They can't create some events and so on.

... I would ask what you mean by this, but I'm confident you don't know yourself.

"A human is a human..." Well OK then. So a dog is a dog. Its not an animal, its a dog. Sarcasm. We're all animals!

I don't mind being called an animal, animals have more respect for the environment around them than most humans, and animals do express feelings using body language a lot of the time and sound as we do. A dog wagging it's tail doesn't just mean it's happy, it can mean it is inspecting it's environment, it can be showing aggression, it can be excited. Animals do express feeling as we do. We are part of the animal kingdom, there isn't a seperate kingdom for humans and we can't seperated our selves form animals without going into the Plantae, Fungi, Protista, Archaea, or Bacteria kingdom and we are much closer to animals than them
