Humanity Is Doomed Because Of Itself
This website provides us with an interesting case study of humanity.
It is absolutely stuffed to bursting point with trolls and liars. Sometimes, when you patiently prove someone is lying it makes no difference, because they write back a well-worded extension of their lie which is capable of fooling people with average or less-than-average intelligence.
It seems to me that the numbers trying to better our species have grown extremely thin, while those trying to exploit it for their own benefit have grown exponentially. Perhaps it was always this way and I just didn't notice before, or perhaps the incentive of personal ego which goes hand-in-hand with capitalism is absolutely destroying our species.
Nobody seems to care about truth on this website. The only thing they care about is feeling like they have "won" against the person they are speaking to. Hence, they will write any quantity of silly, ludicrously false bullshit if they feel it brings them closer to their (purely emotional) goal. People who can't admit when their argument is over have no place on any debating platform, period. So why is it that this definition applies to nine out of every ten accounts here?
Yeah, we're fucked. I've been saying it myself for years. Not just because of what you said, although that's definitely part of it. Self-interest does society no favours because self-interest often contradicts what is best for the society.
People that maintain opinions such as this scare me most of all. Do you believe that the self interest of society to preserve itself won’t take over. Or do you believe we’re all gonna get eaten by demons in hell forever.

Precisely. I'll go even further than that, brother. Self-interest creates an environment where the sociopath (i.e. the one who looks after his/her own interests above all other considerations) is king.

Number one. You are a good example when brining up arguments on how society is doomed. You run back to mommy when someone trolls you. But you troll and add no help whatsoever to debates. You're correct X , he's banned off quora for bigotry , racism and unrelenting rabid attacks on anyone who disagrees with his assertions , he also recieved several bans on For and Against and several others
He's flies off the handle when any of his flimsy arguments are countered , basically he's just an intellectually challenged child

Yes--it does not surprise me at all to hear Nom has been banned from Quora. In fact, I have often told him in the past he would never make it 2 weeks in more formal arenas such as Quora, Stack Exchange, PhysicsForums, ect.
I will mention, however, it seems to me Quora (and other such sites) make the mistake of becoming overly moderated--well beyond what is necessary to the point of stifling, in some instances.

You’re correct Quora has gone way over the top in recent times I received a warning last year for saying Aromatherapy was a pseudoscience , I received another for mentioning Mormons wear underwear for protection from demonic influences ( which they do ) , the offence I caused was by saying maybe the underwear were “ magical”
A member told me the site is Canadian owned where apparently PC is way over the top

Yes--Nom has been talking to himself by utilizing a small army of aliases for quite some time. Amazingly, he continues the behavior even after being called out for it repeatedly.

Interesting. This would make sense as Canada is indeed very much over-the-top with 'progressive left'-leaning PC culture.

Yes--also even simple functions such as 'Ask a Question" is highly overly moderated (in my view). I have submitted a number of questions that began with "Are..", "Is...", or capitalized in a similar format as I do here (on CD) for emphasis, which were overwhelmingly rejected. Then, I would have to revise the questions a number of times in order to 'make it work'--which ultimately led into creating a separate question than originally intended. In at least one instance, my initial question was rejected, I then submitted several revisions which were rejected, ultimately for the last submission to be manually "corrected" by a Moderator who reconfigured my question to that of my original (although they were not aware of it), while commenting that was the 'proper' way of phrasing the inquiry (which is exactly how I originally put it--unbeknownst to him/her)

I have never been banned from Quora. I have never even posted on Quora.
It seems evident from your reply that you have both posted there and been banned. Have you considered that Quora moderators simply have a problem with people who pretend they know everything and viciously attack those who legitimately correct them?
The only thing I ever consistently stand on is The Supreme and Ultimate Reality. I don't even stand on myself. Is not honesty intrinsic to this? Who are you to judge another's heart?
Humanity is doomed because that is the nature of created things in a temporal world. Time destroys it all. It is the eternal nature of God's word that saves all of it. Even though yesterday is gone, it is still here, always existing, one with God, The Supreme and Ultimate Reality. All of existence is here by The Word of God, and The Word of God is eternal.
Oh please. This is little different from all the end of the world predictions century after century yet never coming true. Sure, we'll meet our end someday, and maybe at our own hands, but let's not live in fear of it and let's not use it as the soap box to slam everyone we don't agree with.
And regarding troll behavior on this site, imagine this for a moment... If the ability to tweet and e-mail and post on the web somehow were extended back through history all the way back to a thousand years before Christ what do you think people would have done with that ability?

People taunt and smear and cheat and lecture, and they may actually have been worse back then than they are now. Heck, a big share of the Bible's scriptures are letters warning and threatening others. They were the memes and tweets and threads of their day. We're not doomed just because people act like that. We'd already be dead and gone if that were the case.
Although it is disheartening to look at the state of the world today, I don’t think you can use the positions of people on this site as a case study in human nature and understanding. Most people on this site with an alternative opinion on proven subjects are most likely young religious children still living at home, who are limited in the amount of people they can get their message to. When people are indoctrinated into alternative beliefs, they tend to reject all authoritarian opinions other than their own religion’s.
As to the insane nationalist nutter butters, the same can be said, if not for their parents forcible indoctrination and a limited access to unbiased information, they probly would not hold the views the purport to hold.
Fortunately, I believe most of these views are misunderstandings that will be cleared up as soon as they grow up, but it is much worse in underdeveloped countries, where access to information is extremely limited. Once thinking people have unfettered access to unbiased scientific info. , the popular opinion changes, and it will evolve until we either get past these beliefs, or destroy ourselves.
I suspect that you might be letting the demographic of this site be representative of the entire human race. In which case, I completely appreciate your cynicism. This site is 99% idiots and 1% decent human beings.
