Humanity is currently in a Death Spiral

Perhaps I'm depressed and perhaps I'm biased about it.  But honestly you can only make so much progress before some of it comes back to bite you in the ass.  I feel humanity has done just this and we're now caught in a death spiral that will end in some major global catastrophe.  I don't think it'll be an apocalypse, but who knows, might at least be a huge wake up call.  Or perhaps people will shut their eyes, stop their ears, and pretend it's ok like little children sometimes do.

It really is.

I hope it isn't a death spiral. But I think there are a lot of people already closing eyes, stopping ears, etc. I don't know a way to cause people to regain their senses (read good judgment) other than a significant catastrophe. The question is; can we suffer a catastrophe large enough to open our eyes, without destroying us?

Obviously. We were the day we were created, or the day we evolved, or whenever we became know as humanity.

Though it's not our fault. We were born doomed, with a short lifespan, on a rock next to a star with a medium lifespan, in a universe with a lifespan, albeit long, but existent. We never stood a chance, but that's no reason to mope. The end is what makes the now so important enjoy now, since you already know it isn't forever.

I actually agree. My view of the world is so negative that I do not expect to see 45. I am 32 now.

By currently, you mean now (as in June 8, 2013, etc.), I suppose. And yes, it is. Though people are making improvements, I've heard that the concentration of CO2 (Carbon Dioxide) all around the world is nearing the 'point of no return,' and you can research this if you want.

If humanity does not end nuclear weapons then those weapons will be the end for humanity.

Dont be so pessimistic. Humanity can never go down the death spiral. Because, we are already at the bottom. It was not darkness that lies here, but confusion. We debate but never converse. We decide, but never stand. We live in a misguided ideal and die for falsehood.

But have we seen the worst yet? With eyes like this, I doubt we could
