IS eating a hamburger the global warming equivalent of driving a Hummer?

"This week an article in The Times of London carried a headline that blared: “Give Up Meat to Save the Planet.” Former Vice President Al Gore, who has made climate change his signature issue, has even been assailed for omnivorous eating by animal rights activists."

True Life:

Eating a salad and driving a Hummer is more environmentally friendly overall than eating a hamburger and driving a Prius.

Side: yes

That may be true but I ain't giving up my hamburger. BTW, did you read the article?

Side: Hell no!

Meh, I skimmed. But I do know that the UN's advice to most effectively reduce global warming is to cut out meat.

It sounds extreme but the truth is yes.

Then again.. I've always been an environmentalist without knowing it. Being a cheap cunt + vegetarian + other cultural things = very environmentally friendly.

it is even worse then driving a hummer when you think about it. the trees that are cut down, and the trucks driven across highways to get them to all the food places. not to mention the cown themselves who let off all that gas into the air.

The article refers to 'climate change'.

The global warming fallacy is nothing more nor less than a whole lot of hot air.

When the climate of the Earth is in a cooling phase, it is man- made when it is too cool. When the climate of the Earth is in a heating phase, it is man-made when it is too warm.

Climate Change means this: I will be taxed when the climate is cooling. I will also be taxed when the climate is warming.

Now that my friend is WHY politicians no longer use the term Global Warming, and instead prefer Climate Change.

(Oh my government, we are all gonna die if we don't stop climate change!!! Help us we pray thee! In the name of the legislative, the executive and the judicial ---AMEN)

I do not agree that the momentary act of eating a hamburger, with all its processes in mind, is anywhere near as harmful as driving a Hummer.

Well actually, eating meat creates a greater demand for meat, which causes farms to breed more cows. Cows flatulate constantly and release tons of greenhouse gases daily. So in a sense, eating burgers does raise greenhouse emissions. ;)

I speak of quantities, and am not attempting to dispell the former. One who owns a hummer must initially be in a ludicrous state of mind, one which is inclined to drive excessively as to avoid judgement from others for not being "well equipped". Inherently, said person contributes a larger quantity of pollution than the common carnivore.

Consider this. If everyone who ate hamburgers instead drove hummers, would pollution decrease. I am under the impression of the inverse.

I believe in Global Cooling. Especially around winter time. So I don't believe in this ;)

BTW, my carbon foot print is bigger tha yours ;)
