CreateDebate is a social debate community built around ideas, discussion and democracy.
If this is your first time checking out a debate, here are some quick tips to help get you started:
Arguments with the highest score are displayed first.
Argument replies (both in favor and in opposition) are displayed below the original argument.
To follow along, you may find it helpful to show and hide the replies displayed below each argument.
To vote for an argument, use these icons:
You have the power to cast exactly one vote (either up or down) for each argument.
Once you vote, the icon will become grayed out and the argument's score will change.
Yes, you can change your vote.
Debate scores, side scores and tag scores are automatically calculated by an algorithm that primarily takes argument scores into account.
All scores are updated in real-time.

“I don’t know any mainstream scholar who doubts the historicity of Jesus,” said Eric Meyers, an archaeologist and emeritus professor in Judaic studies at Duke University. “The details have been debated for centuries, but no one who is serious doubts that he’s a historical figure.”
“I don’t know any mainstream scholar who doubts the historicity of Jesus,”
In other words, anybody who points out there is absolutely no historical evidence for Jesus is automatically disqualified from the "mainstream" and risks being mocked by this idiot. It's a classic "Emperor has no clothes" fallacy. Putting people under psychological pressure to believe something absent any actual evidence to support it.
And people honestly wonder why there are those who question the Holocaust.
In other words, anybody who points out there is absolutely no historical evidence for Jesus
If they claim that’s the case they need to present their arguments and have them evaluated, quoting idiots like the unemployed Carrier and Carter is academic suicide why do you think Carrier remains unattached ?
is automatically disqualified from the "mainstream" and risks being mocked by this idiot.
Well yes Carrier and Carter deserve mocking
It's a classic "Emperor has no clothes" fallacy.
It’s not and what a poor analogy Nom
Putting people under psychological pressure to believe something absent any actual evidence to support it.
Who’s applying pressure ?
And people honestly wonder why there are those who question the Holocaust.
If they claim that’s the case they need to present their arguments and have them evaluated
No they don't you fucking ridiculously thick Irish retard. Burden of proof doesn't work that way. We don't assume Jesus existed until proven otherwise.
Fuck off. I don't know why you bother writing replies in the first place because you are too stupid to articulate any form of valid criticism.
Credible historians disagree with your “assessment “ as the majority believe Jesus did exist , yet another subject you know fuck all about .
No doubt you rely on the rantings of idiots like Richard Carrier to back your nonsense up
You do not even know how credible historians and scholars weigh up the evidence to support the accuracy of the historicity of Jesus because you’re an uneducated buffoon
Credible historians disagree with your “assessment “ as the majority believe Jesus did exist
Oh, I see. Done a global census of the private beliefs of "credible historians" have we?
God, you're SO FUCKING STUPID!!!!!!!! You're literally a fucking idiot Dermot. Stop making up your own version of reality and stop attacking other people for having the common sense to challenge it.
Historians point out the lack of reliable historical sources. Most of the accounts of Jesus of course come from Christian sources – and even these are largely third party narratives written years after his death.
As Nicholas Carter writes in his book The Christ Myth: "No sculptures, no drawings, no markings in stone, nothing written in his own hand; and no letters, no commentaries, indeed no authentic documents written by his Jewish and Gentile contemporaries, Justice of Tiberius, Philo, Josephus, Seneca, Petronius Arbiter, Pliny the Elder, et al., to lend credence to his historicity."
The only history we have for Jesus Christ comes from the Bible, especially the Gospels. However, the Gospels are not eyewitness accounts and were not written by the disciples whose names they bear. But that is a subject for another article.
Oh, I see. Done a global census of the private beliefs of "credible historians" have we?
Believe it or not Nom credible historians write papers , reviews and books , that’s strange isn’t it
Wiki
Virtually all New Testament scholars and Near East historians, applying the standard criteria of historical investigation, find that the historicity of Jesus is effectively certain although they differ about the beliefs and teachings of Jesus as well as the accuracy of the details of his life that have been described in the gospels. While scholars have criticized Jesus scholarship for religious bias and lack of methodological soundness, with very few exceptions such critics generally do support the historicity of Jesus and reject the Christ myth theory that Jesus never existed.
🤔 Ouch
God, you're SO FUCKING STUPID!!!!!!!! You're literally a fucking idiot Dermot.
That seems to be the only “argument” you ever put forward to everyone , how about attempting a defence ?
Stop making up your own version of reality and stop attacking other people for having the common sense to challenge it.
I’m not making it up , I’m stating a fact as in the general concession amongst credible scholars and historians
Historians point out the lack of reliable historical sources.
Credible historians do not doubt the historicity of Jesus , I correctly predicted you would cite the unemployed non attached Historians as in Carter and Carrier to back your “ case “ and lo and behold that exactly what your source quotes
Most of the accounts of Jesus of course come from Christian sources – and even these are largely third party narratives written years after his death.
Maybe you should print up your findings online or maybe deliver then in your next lecture at the Marxist meet up ?
You’re seriously quoting yet another idiot as in Carter who scholars cross the road when he’s about , from the unemployed blogger Carrier to Carter .... Oh dear

🤔 So you've no defence for your recent attempted defence of Muhammad as I take it from your silence you didn’t take your schooling too well , you also have no defence against my latest dismissal of your attempted defence of Marx and here you are put in your box again making you once again the truly stupid cunt 🖕
Israel is not an enemy, last I knew it was also NOT Christian. Netanyahu is an impediment to peace. Go Israel, dump Netanyahu … and a couple of his friends! Yep! Socialist. Confused? Only by someone stupid.
Many times I've seen conservatives claim Catholics are not Christian. They worship Christ! How can they not be Christians?? I personally don't care WHO is Christian and who is not. I DO hate to see so-called "Christians" spreading racial hate, objecting to almost anything that offers health care to those who can't afford the VERY expensive, capitalist-driven, health care that IS available. I hate to see already "born" children torn from their parents or shoved back into the arms of gangs who terrorize and kill. I hate to see health care that is directed at women, especially pregnant women, destroyed BY these "Christians" that don't give a DAMN about a "born" child, or whether the mother (or baby) dies at birth. Jesus, allegedly, wanted the poor and ill taken care of, fed and protected. How can YOU decide who and what is "Christian"?? I can't see that YOU follow ANYTHING Jesus stood for. You do nothing but spread hate, fight against anything that helps the poor or sick, do not like our helping those in need, stand up for the rich who want to get richer and are like "Camels passing through the eye of a needle"! You are a CINO … and the "C" DOESN'T stand for conservative! Don't tell ME who are Christians and who are NOT! I'm like Gandhi, "I like your Christ, your Christians are so unlike your Christ."
You aren't a fucking warrior you stupid cunt, you're a tubby bald troglodyte moron typing words into a keyboard.
I tell the truth
You wouldn't know the truth if it hit you with a brick until you where unconscious, put you in a dress and makeup before you woke up, then took you out for dinner and snogged you back to sleep while fingering your butt hole.
I'm better looking than you
LOL it's easy to say that from behind a cartoon profile picture. Even your pic is ugly AF. I bet you have ears that resemble the wings of a bat and a crooked hooked nose that one could catch some mean bass with if they cut it off and stuck it on their fishing pole.
I'm successful in business
You mean you're good at exploiting the working class to your own fat greedy glutinous and lazy avail?
I have better looking women than you
Women plural, so you're cheating on your wife, you scuzz bucket.
I'm on the RIGHT side of the issues
You are on the worst side of everything, because you are not a true leftist, you mix capitalism with a perverted american version of liberalism which is more center-right than anything else and call yourself a leftist. Not only are you on the wrong side, but the issues you engage with are miscellaneous at best, nothing of true import is even within your scope as you are more concerned with mere surface level low information politics like most other Americans.
Your God has chosen the Jews, and that really PISSES you off
God doesn't fucking exist you worthless retarded piece of shit.
We're been around 4,000 years LONGER than Christians
I'm not a fucking christian and neither is fact machine so who are you talking to?
And, we'll be around 4,000 years LONGER than Christians, and that pisses you off too
There is absolutely no reason to believe that other than jewish supremacist ideology and self importance. Humans in general will likely not even exist in 4000 years.
All around, we're better, smarter, richer, and your GOD agrees with us
What is the difference between you and nazi ideologically? The only difference is what race you believe is superior. The funny thing is, HEBREW ISRAELITES are the ones who where named "God's chosen people", not white atheists who are part of an ethnic group that CONVERTED to a RELIGION.
You wouldn't know the truth if it hit you with a brick until you where unconscious, put you in a dress and makeup before you woke up, then took you out for dinner and snogged you back to sleep while fingering your butt hole.
Americans Jews have a longstanding reputation for voting Democratic. Around 70 percent of Jews voted for President Barack Obama in 2012 and Hillary Clinton in 2016 — the highest numbers among any religious group. In September, 77 percent of Jews said they disapproved of President Donald Trump’s job performance. Fifty-four percent of Jews identify as Democrats nationally, while 14 percent nationwide are Republicans.
The reason American Jews are liberal is because they tend to sympathize with the less fortunate and with minorities: like many black and Hispanic Americans, 54% of Jews believe government should be bigger, with more services, compared to just 40% of the public at large who believe the same. And 82% of Jews think that homosexuality should be accepted by society, while just 57% of the general public believes so.
Explain your position on Jews as convoluted as it is.
Although Jewish Americans represent just 2% of the population, politicians — and would-be politicians — have long considered the "Jewish vote" a prize worth pursuing. That's actually not irrational. Jews contribute a disproportionate amount of money to political candidates and causes; many Jews live in the swing states of Florida (846,700 of 19.9 million), Pennsylvania (324,700 of 12.8 million), Ohio (173,700 of 11.6 million), and Michigan (105,200 of 9.9 million); and Jews tout a stellar turnout record of 80%, according to multiple sources.
It sometimes feels, nonetheless, like many campaigns are stuck in a time warp, or rather an alternate universe. They're spending thousands of dollars — and in some cases millions — to sway Jewish voters chiefly based on the false notion that Israel is terribly important to a majority of Jewish Americans.
Israel was the "most important" voting issue for a mere 4% of respondents in the Public Religion Research Institute's 2012 Jewish Values survey. Israel was one of two top "voting issue priorities" for just 10% in a J Street poll conducted around the same time. More recently, "U.S.-Israel relations" was the most important issue for only 7.2% in the American Jewish Committee's 2015 study of Jewish American opinion, ranking fifth behind "economy" (41.7%), "national security" (12.3%), "healthcare" (12%), and "income inequality" (11.6%). It was the second and the third-most important issue for only 7.6% and 11.1%, respectively.
