Actually the issue in the article isn't political correctness, it's racism. But your overall point I think isn't completely off.

Well, generally speaking I'm against political correctness as a whole, though it is none of my business if a group prefers not to be called a specific thing and feels offended if they are called that ie nigger, spic, midget, towlhead, sandnigger, beaner, fag, etc.

(notice cracker is not in the list, that's because no white person really cares if you call them cracker. Go ahead, try it, they'll just laugh probably)

anyway, in this specific case, they've all gone completely mad.

I'm as white as can possibly be, and I cannot even count how many times I was called a hoodlum as a kid.

There is absolutely nothing the least bit racist about that word, and whoever is making a big deal out of that teacher calling the kids hoodlums needs to be bitch slapped...

oh yeah, bitch, that's another one.

It wasn't racism. Two members directly stated that it had nothing to do with racism. And, even if it did - it would still be political correctism!

Bitch slapped? I prefer tried for human rights violations - she does have first amendment rights, after all.

People don't have first amendment rights in the workplace. The amendment only prohibits the federal government from stopping you from speaking freely in the public sphere. It has no force in workplaces, even governmental ones. You are at work to do your work, not to voice your opinions -- unless that is your work. Even so, how you express your opinions have to conform with your employers guidelines.

This is 1st amendment basics. Do some research into the matter before you comment about the freedoms granted by the Bill of Rights.

She violated the teacher code of ethics, which says "you can't embarrass kids or make disparaging remarks about kids." That is not political correctness. It's maintaining a safe and productive environment for kids to learn. Teaching is not done by humiliating a student.

However, in general, political correctness is what my grandmother called "Being polite". We live in a diverse society. We need to maintain some level of peace and order and accommodate our differences for the sake of getting along. Calling people disparaging names is just rudeness, plain and simple.

People who think they can avoid being "politically correct" are really just rude assholes.

She called kids in a gang a 'hoodlum'. That's what a hoodlum is - it is neither an offensive term or a slang term.

Also, my argument was auxiliary - much as is your. If I had meant for it to become a focal point of the debate, I would surely have posted it in the description.

Ya, you like to find reasons to say that what other people say doesn't pertain to the topic. You are usually wrong and always irritating.

What part of "That is not political correctness" don't you understand? I directly refuted the notion that you provided an example of the topic you are attempting to debate. Address that if you can.

Otherwise, what you think of what I have to say is of no interest to me, so save yourself the trouble, K?
