I have a question

I need a map for my book, a map of the contenent that it takes place on. Is there a program for map  makeing or is there a person that i could discribe the map to and then they draw it out?

Ave is correct. You need an artist. You don't want a program to do it, it looks generic and manufactured. It needs to be art as much as a guide to help readers get deeper into it.

I'd suggest making a rough draft then saving a few bucks to pay an artist to make it look cool. Make a post on Craig's list, you'll get shitloads of replies I'm sure.

Paint. Lol naw but dude i wrote one too! Im guessing yours is fantasy/fiction and mines realistic fiction but we should totally swap drafts for peer edit. If you dont mind that is. We'll talk.

Anyway, i recommend you find a friend with artistic talent to actually hand draw it for you. That way youd get the best look of it being authentically drawn. Then it's easy to just scan it into a computer fia copier and paste it onto your document.

Im sure you could also hit up google and maybe use a blank map and then draw on that or maybe find a program if you really wanna go that direction. Its up to you.

And if you are going for publishing they will get people to do cover art for you so youll get someone to draw a map.

Just draw a rough map first, squares for towns, green areas for forests ribbons for rivers, et.c. It's not that hard to improve it from there, and you can use examples.
