I'm not a Christian so I don't know everything about the Bible, but doesn't it say homosexuality is a sin? Why, then, did a religious bakery in Colorado have to hear a Supreme Court ruling in order to ensure their rights? Now, yes, the Court thankfully acted in line with the Constitution, but what if they hadn't? A case similar to this is sure to come up again.
Everyone should have the right to follow the scriptures of their religion.
I think the right to religious freedom and expression along with freedom of speech forms part of the 1st Amendment.
Homosexuality is described as an abomination in the Christian Bible, and regardless of anyone's personal opinion on the subject, practicing Christians should not be penalized for upholding the teachings of their religion.
Why did the homosexuals choose a Christian owned bakery to have their cake decorated?
When it was explained to the homos that their request was incompatible with the religious beliefs of the bakery owners why could they not have respected the baker's faith and gone elsewhere for their cake?
Soon there will be many who will have to apologise for being a heterosexual, Christian white male.
Gay rights, gay pride, feminism, women's rights, black power and '' black lives matter'' have all combined to make a straight white male to almost feel apologetic for existing.
Yes. In this way. President Trump has NO interest in "Christian Rights", he is only interested in "Christian MONEY", you know, the tax free kind that is NOT supposed to be spent on politics ... but IS! The only thing "Christian" about Trump is his ability to change the morality of evangelists and turn it into money! Their new mantra is: "Blessed are the philanderers, for their sins shall be overlooked." Whatever happened to the "family values party"!? (It became evangelistic ... and has been reborn in Trumps image!)
So you think religion is more important than science? You think it infringes upon religious freedom if churches have to pay taxes like every one else yet if you have to pay for ACTUAL SCIENCE to be taught in schools this is unacceptable? Would you rather pay for children to be taught that complex sentient beings just pop out of the aether and create other sentient beings using magic? If atheists had to pay for public schools to teach christian theology as if it was science would you see a problem with this?
What would you have taught in the schools then? Or would you prefer that all schools be privatized so that they can teach whatever they want and pay for it on their own?
But evolution is a complex theory and it isn't given anywhere near enough time to fully grasp it as it is. And creationism is pretty easy to understand and doesn't take that long to study. Did I mention evolution is actually based on evidence?
But you ARE paying for it lol. Is it really so bad? They only cover it for like a week or two after all, it's not like they are programming it into peoples head with constant anti-God propaganda. Evolution is essential to the study of biology, so it makes sense that they would cover it. Creationism on the other hand is not science or biology, so why would they cover it at all?
Evolution isn't being taught in schools as fact. Evolution is taught as a theory that you can believe or not believe. There are no anti-Christian programs in schools.
"Theories" are thoughts backed up by some evidence that at least looks like FACT.
Creationism is a theory that comes from ancient books cobbled together by many ancient individuals who had no science, no idea what actually made things "happen". The "Earth, wind and fire "scientists" who could only explain something by an "act of a god". THEY didn't know WTF they were talking about!
Well, you could just stop paying taxes. Take a stand. See how that works out.
But as far as rights go, you don't have to right to have the school curriculum changed to suit your particular religion. Neither do Muslims, Hindu's, Jews, Rastafarians and all the rest.
If you don't want your make believe kids to be taught science, put them in a make believe private school.
As much as you would like it to be one, America isn't a theocracy. There is not now nor ever will be a state sponsored religion.
What I'd like to know is why is it that Churches are allowed to be involved in politics and not pay taxes. I say tax the hell out of them.
No, actually it isn't. Slavery is slavery. Taxation without representation is taxation without representation. They aren't even close to being the same thing. Well, maybe they're the same in Christian fundy world but not in reality.
Yes it is. If I have to pay taxes to the government, I hav e the right to be represented. I have the Constitutional First Amendment right to freedom of speech, and religion while we are at it. I would love a private debate with you on this.
Where is anyone "forcing you" to support evolution? It is laid out there for you to see and believe ... or not. Your choice. I know of NO law that says you can't believe in creationism if you want to. However, in schools for the public, there are too many citizens that want mythology taught in mythology classes, and facts, as we know them, taught in science classes.
"This nation was founded by many men, of many countries and backgrounds. It was founded on the principle that all men are created equal, and that the rights of EVERY man are diminished when the rights of ONE man are threatened." JFK
Non-religious people, or people of another religion have rights in this country ... for the time being, anyway. The separation of church and state is the only thing that allows this. Otherwise, only a chosen few have "liberty". Christian rights can NOT be held above all others ... and still be Constitutional! They HAVE equality, that's all they should get!
Well, let me ask you this. Churches are tax exempt. Where do you think the government makes up the money that they don't get from Churches? Us. In a nation where the rise in the number of Atheists continues to grow, do you really want them to have the ability to not support your church as you want the ability to not support schools that teach an emphasis on science?
Ignored. If you were really a Christian, you would know the government has no right to touch religious money............................................
I highly suggest you read what I wrote again. If there was something you didn't understand then please ask me to clarify, simply ignoring because you either didn't read or misunderstood, won't get us anywhere.
Every time this same tired statement is thrown out as in “ but it’s only a theory “
You do not even know what that means scientifically do you ?
From wiki .....
Many scientists and philosophers of science have described evolution as fact and theory, a phrase which was used as the title of an article by paleontologist Stephen Jay Gould in 1981. He describes fact in science as meaning data, not absolute certainty but "confirmed to such a degree that it would be perverse to withhold provisional assent". A scientific theory is a well-substantiated explanation of such facts. The facts of evolution come from observational evidence of current processes, from imperfections in organisms recording historical common descent, and from transitions in the fossil record. Theories of evolution provide a provisional explanation for these facts.
Evolution IS anti-Christian. And creationism IS anti-evolution. Evolution is only a theory, not a proven fact. Why else do you think that people still disagree with evolution? Yes, there is some evidence of evolution happening, which I don't really understand because I'm not a scientist, but creationists also have proof of God existing.
I don't have to proof my beliefs unless I claim that you should follow them. Read the first 3 chapter of Genesis, and prove that your psuedo intellectual fantasy is true.
I mean read the book that offers the God who paid the price for all sinners, including me. Do you knoiw what sin is? It is missing the mark and trasgressing God's Law. This applies to me as well. Are you willing to turn from your sin, and receive Jesus as your God, Lord, and Savior?
You aren't wrong in supporting religious liberty. Anyone that doesn't is anti-First Amendment since the First Amendment allows for religious freedom, and making any laws to put religious businesses in line with the rights of the homosexual is unconstitutional.
The Progressive Left has a goal of a secular America, whereby their insecure ears will never hear any mention of our nation's majority faith in public.
The Left is mostly made up of insecure Godless people, who are too insecure to listen to anything that suggests they are living irresponsible selfish lifestyles. They must censor such speech and have done so in our public Speer.
Yes, our religious freedoms are being taken from us by the Liberal Left and Liberal judges.
They will force their political correct will on private Christian family owned businesses who refuse to deny their faith.
You aren't wrong, but you should look at bigger issues. Would you rather have your needs as a Christian satisfied, or the needs of the world? I'm a Christian myself, and I applaud the fact that Trump want's to help our people. It's just not as important as helping the planet.
