But the political ethos of Libertarianism is only valuable or important to some.

In fact, to a minority.

Most folks prefer at least a moderate amount of government.

These would usually be you Right Wing Conservatives.

While some like a great deal of government. So as to provide socio-economic assistance. Like welfare. These would usually be a bit further to the left on the political spectrum.

Usually Democrats. Or Democratic Socialists.

Like we see in Canada and France and Sweden.

Also...once a decent sized government gains control and power, if can be difficult to eradicate if. Or even minimize it.

Government can often become a self perpetuating entity.

A juggernaut. Out of control. This lessening the intended power of Democracy.

To eradicate Government totally is known as Anarchy.

This has rarely yielded good results.

So..for all these reasons is why we see no true Libertarian nations.

Hope this helps!

Please, instead of downvoting arguments, add your own. I don't care at all for Libertarianism, but SlapShot's argument was perfectly reasonable and realistic. It certainly didn't warrant downvoting.

Thanks Darky.

Thing is, there is a cadre of cowards here who serially downvote my posts for no reason. Except because they are mine.

You know...idiots.

Who posses Neither the balls or the intellect to confront me in a debate.

Or even dispute my post and say why.

They are afraid of me.

I have made many enemies around here.

Stepped on many toes.

Utterly destroyed many arguments.

Continually displayed my intellect.

Vented wrath.

As some of my downtown brothers would say.....

Fucked some cats all the hell up!

LOL

Which I love. That I have enemies.

You know what Winston Churchill said about that?

"You have made enemies in your life? Good. It means you have stood for things you believe in."

Thanks!

Now..you little living.with.mommy twits.......

Bring on those dowmvote!

Each one is a feather in my cap!!

I've pretty much made it my personal policy to never downvote someone for an opinion. I will only downvote for bad forum behavior.

By this logic democracy would not have been valuable before the 18th century during the period dominated by monarchies. Sometimes "good" political ideals take a while to become successful.

I disagree.

I only claimed that most people desire at least a modicum of government.

I never claimed that most folks also desire to have a say in that government.

I only claimed most folks want some form of control and protection.

I never said they wanted a total monarchy.

Or a tyrannical and oppressive one.

Or an oligarchy.

Or a plutocracy.

The latter which more than a few people think America has become.

Also remember that one can be either on the Left or Right of the political spectrum and still retain Libertarian values. Though, the majority of folks in my country who call themselves Libertarians are indeed Conservative Right Wingers.

Thanks.

I disagree.

Most people know 3 lefts make a right.

I am only claiming that if you have a group of people who's number is divisible by 3 and they claim to be left, they are actually right and vice versa.

This means leftist and right wingers are fundamentally inconsistent.

Now, I will concede that libertarians is orthogonal to left and right, up, if you will. Now if you take three ups, what do you get? Up.

Therefore libertarianism is not inconsistent.

Thanks.

Oh please is there just one political ideology that the US cant completely butcher? Liberalism in the USA is socialism everywhere else that isnt so scared of the association with communism. Now what are you defining "libertarianism" as?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarianism

I would say most European countries are libertarian nations compared to the US.
