No more, people burning for witchcraft, bombing abortion clinics, no sharia, burqas, suicide bombing, killing gays, stoning to death for apostasy or just dating, no more stem cell blocking...
The Holocaust was secular and had almost nothing to do with religion. The key concept was race, which is not a religious issue. Jews who had converted to Christianity and their children and grandchildren were persecuted and killed too. To regard the Holocaust as some kind of bizarre religious issue would be highly misleading. The key point was that the Nazis saw the Jews as Communists (or, to use the term that was fashionable at the time, Bolshevists) and the Holocaust was part of a wider campaign against what the Nazis saw as racially transmitted 'Judeo-Bolshevism'
How about tackling next how it was religion who lead to the creation of the A-bomb?
"If God doesn't exist then everything is permitted." -Fyodor Dostoevsky
Based on that quote everything would be permitted that means stealing, killing, lying, cheating, rape, etc is alright. We know for a fact everything isn't permitted because we all know what's right and wrong. Therefore the world wouldn't be a better place. It would be in much of a worse state.
Agreed. I dont kill because i would cry over the suffering of my victim if i did that. I hate to see people suffer. I would only make an exception to prevent someone from murdering or torturing me or to protect someone else.
everything you described is the nature of god, and so your response to the guy who said The only reason you dont kill people is because God tells you not to?
No, what srom was saying is the nature of god is in all men, and to not kill is to be like god, we are not being forced by god, we WANT to be like god because we know god would never do these things, and before you pull out the bible to tell me about all the murders and atrocities committed by god i wont have any of it, its deceit.
Religion is the greatest tool for brainwashing, however, it can also be the most powerful tool for breaking free from oppression.
I thought it was quite obvious. ""If God doesn't exist then everything is permitted." -Fyodor Dostoevsky
This quote only applies to people like you that feel they would kill if God wasn't around to say you shouldn't. For an atheist it is quite obvious that people, by their nature, do not see it as morally correct to kill.
Not really. Secular countries like Sweden and Finland are doing pretty well (better than the US...). Also, one can have morals without a religion; for example, may people take beliefs from Confucianism, which isn't a religion, but a philosophy.
Come on lil bro. Obviously God is a good reason not to do those things, but i choose not to rape or murder because I would be heartbroken over the suffering from said actions. I want to heal, not hurt just because i want to, god's just the icing on the cake. :)
The reason why I quoted that person was because if religion disappeared tomorrow then everything would be worse since everything would be permitted and also the world would be in chaos.

And yes, this is a copy-paste of a previous argument :B
