If a 17 year old kills someone with his parents' permission, who's to blame?

Side Score: 7

However messed up the idea of a parent granting permission for murder is, the person who actually kills someone is the only one who is responsible for it, or at least thats the way it should be.

Would about if the parents "ordered" their child to kill? Would that be grounds to punish the parents as well?

17 years old is most definitely and absolutely old enough to know and understand the consequences of killing someone.

Side: The kid

Both, but the kid would go to jail for murder, the parents for accessory to murder, or something :L.

Side: The kid

In the UK the parents would probably be prosecuted for failing to take care of their child.

Most likely the kid, unless he was raised from birth with the idea that he will eventually kill someone and it will be okay.

I'm 17 and I know that if my parents suddenly told me "You have permission to kill X person", I would just think they're completely crazy.

Side: The kid

The parent's should get some of the blame but mostly the kids as it was their action.

Side: The kid

It would be the kid. The parents didn't order him or her to kill this person they just gave him or her permission.

Both I think.

That would make the parents an accessory to the murder right? Because that's like conspiring to kill someone right?

Side: The parents

I think both cause both of them helped them kill a person

Both. The kid should know that murder is illegal whether his parents tell him to do it or not. But at the same time, parents have a lot of influence over their child's decision making.

This is kind of like the story of the DC snipers. The son was totally brainwashed by his father, but he still commited multiple murders.

Side: The parents

Both are! Duh! 1234567891011121314151617181920212223242526272829303132333435
