Um, religious freedom would, kinda obvious.

Srom, are you seriously this, lets say, innocent or is this a very devoted persona?

Yea it's happening right now. A perfect example of this is the Middle East.

Side: Yes

I do not want my goverment getting involved in my church or my church in my goverment. Plus, how sure are you that your church will be the one that merges the goverment. If you are not a memeber of the new religous order, you are pretty much screwed.

Religious freedom would. And some kinds of freedom like who you marry, sex before marriage, stuff the bible bans.

The whole idea of following a religion means following the rules of it. A religion-based government will structure every aspect of the country after the code of conduct the religion calls for. Where does it say "freedom of speech" in the Bible, Koran, Torah, etc.? Where does it say people can follow any other religion or belief? To my understanding, people who worship other "idols" were to be either converted, destroyed, or avoided. So for those of you who say we would still have freedom, think again and make sure you look at the whole picture

if you are gay yes, or if your a women yes, this would never happen so no need to worry.

More than just a yes. Religion preaches moral absolutes in many cases, which can restrict freedoms of peoples. For example, look at many politicians in America that are anti-gay rights. Most of their logic derives from "it's not natural" or "God created Adam and Eve". I honestly cannot think of a single argument for something against gay rights that is not rooted in religious ideas, and that's just one example!

Very quickly. In the US that religion would be christianity which is already trying to control everything it can. If it was actually given the freedom to do what it wanted we'd have mandated prayer, religiously run military opperations, even more fucking churches and we'd probably be persecuting atheists, wiccans, and other religious minorities.

Why would it? Assuming this is the Christian religion, which understands that people do evil, then the government would be forgiving and understanding of crime. Hence, the law would be strict, but the forgiveness plentiful. If the religion were Islam, when no one can obey the law perfectly, then it would be bad.

Yea, last time I checked Christians would outlaw just about everything.

Don't assume religion = Christianity... If the world were lead by shamans, the schooling system would most likely put as much priority into concepts like 'power animals' as they would algebra, but apart from that not much would change.

I doubt that the combination of religion and state will cause freedom to decline. But that depends on which religion though.... because not every religion expresses freedom as an intrinsic right.

Most of the laws are religious. Speaking lie is considered as a sin and also by law it is wrong practice.theft was also prohibited by prophets. Prophets are the people who give us virtues. Otherwise we cannot think speaking lie or theft is wrong. For example in Muslim world women not covering themselves is considered as a sin but in other world women not covering themselves completely is not considered bad. Laws make nation Christian ,Muslim or Jewish or Hindu state.

It depends upon your state of mind . you think acting by laws is against your freedom. Laws save you from thieves and decoits. Laws make sure that people are free from fear and danger.it is only one example

Alright, but what about the people who don't want to follow that religion, or don't believe in any religion? Think about how having a religious government will affect them. Look in a history book, and go back to the times when the Catholic Church had its hand in every government in Europe. It was the supreme power, and to speak against the Church was considered slander and best case scenario, you were put in jail, got out, then alienated for the rest of your life. THATS THE BEST SCENARIO. People lived in fear of the Church, and there were no "free speech" protections or "freedom of religion". If you worshiped different gods, you were to be burned, tortured, drowned, stoned, etc. Laws are to protect ALL people, not just the "righteous". And laws are made by people who THINK they're protecting you and keeping you safe. The laws don't always work in our favor, which is why they come up with a new one or make revisions all the time. What major religion says that it's okay to worship other gods, that gives both women and men equal rights, or gives us the freedom to say what we wish? Religion is not about equality, it's about becoming a follower in order to have a peaceful afterlife. Religion is often paraphrased and edited to fit the needs at the time as well. If the government were to follow every law in the Bible, Torah, Koran, etc. word for word, do you really think people would live happily ever after? Do you honestly believe that agnostics, theists, atheists, Wiccans, etc. would accept the changes and the consequences? And please, learn to convey your message clearly, so others don't have to waste time trying to figure out what you're trying to say. (I'm not just talking about that statement either.)

imposing something by power is dictatorship .the people who do this are not promoting religion.Religion without belief is of no use.basic concept of bible, torah and quran is that there is one God. with time he teaches His people.he gives scientific knowledgeand also help people in making social laws.by the time of moses people of his society were slaves and not brave enough to take revenge of their masters brutalities. so, Moses was told to take revenge in each and every case. by the time of jesus his people were very cruel so he was told to forgive people in each and every case.by the time of muhammad people were told that punishments are for correctness if the judge believes that the punishment is neccessary then take the revenge but if peace and correctness comes with forgivness then forgive the person.all the time God wanted his people get some virtues of bravery, humbleness and wisdom.now man is educated enough that he can decide which thing is needed in times of war bravery is required but killing innocent children as a revenge is not giving you bravery.similarly in times of war forgiving soldiers so that they can destroy you is never wise.

there is one God who give us some laws . laws of christians ,jews or muslims can never be contradictory to each other.each time God wanted to teach his people somegood virtues of bravery, forgivness or wisdom.law makers can wisely decide which thing is better.which thing is required by their people. people who do not believe in God can never have any laws because concept of good and wrong things is associated with religious people. religious people think God will be angry with them if they do something wrong.

Do you mean if the church becomes the government?

Depends on the laws they pass. Will they legalize drugs, lower taxes, end the wars, and eliminate business regulations? Then that means they will actually increase freedom.

Although, if they ban gay marriage and condoms, they've decreased freedom.

Religion and government were practically "joined" when this country was founded, and it's a big part of the reason why America became so strong. Our founding fathers had values, but nobody seems to care about those anymore.

Plus, Christianity has no aspects that actually "harm" anyone like some religions do.
