If we clone early Neanderthals - should we put them in zoos?
Currently there are people who are dumber than Neanderthals and we don't put them in zoos. Also, there are many people with Neanderthal genes and we don't put them in zoos either.

If they can be taught to communicate in a common human language, then most people would be against putting them in zoos (caged unless given consent). Low tech indigenous tribes are often put on display, albeit not caged, for the pleasure of the masses. It does not have to be stupid or smart to be displayed, it just has to be entertaining. Many reality shows are basically an exhibit at a zoo or habitat where the displayed animal has given consent for compensation. Side: No.
It just seems wrong to me to put ancestors of ourselves in zoos. Honestly, I don't think we should clone them at all. The world is already overpopulated as it is, even if they evolve to our current evolutionary placement, and it's also pretty pointless. Why clone an earlier version of our species anyway? What would the point be? And a zoo, of all places? Really? Side: No.
Unfortunately, in this world where people don't appreciate the simpler things in life, I can only expect constant attempts at improvement rather than returning to an earlier time. I'd be shocked if scientists actually appreciated the past enough the clone a Neanderthal. Side: Yes.
