If you could make ONE absolute change to government, what would it be?

I'd replace voting for representatives touting issues with voting on the actual issues; direct democracy. Of course, with the voters determined by the level of government- local voters for local issues, same state voters for state issues, nationwide for federal issues.

Are there any issues that you feel the voters are not qualified to decide on?

Honestly? For the average voter, pretty much all of them.

However, I'm not aware of any politicians that I'd rank much higher in competence than the average voter, nor can I imagine a 'clean' way to filter out who gets to take part in what decisions, so...

No one can lie.

I would make the Federal Government responsible for a lot less. For example, the federal government should not stick its nose on abortion, gay marriage, etc. (that should be decided by the state). The federal government should focus on protecting our borders, the economy, etc. Kinda like it's spelled out in the Constitution... imagine that ;)

Term limits on almost all offices. And a demand that all elected officials must annually stand before a podium with a camera broadcasting it and read off every campaign donation recieved, by whom, and how much the donation was.

Supreme Court Justices would no longer have lifetime appointments but would be elected every 4 years by the U.S. voters.
