If you don't believe in God, then the government is your god.
Think about it, any atheist on this site, not anarchists, atheisst, probably believe the government is untouchable, knows everything, and controls what you do.
Please explain how the government is no different than god.
But when you worship god, you are not letting others oppress you.
When you believe in government you believe only the government is correct, how dare anyone go against the government? Its the government, it cant be wrong, it sees all...
Also, you allow your government to murder and commit thievery (taxes)
Thats terrible. And its true.
If you dont believe in god, you believe in government.
I dont know what country you live in, but in america the military is a seperate entity from the government altogether
I realize our president is the commander in chief, but if the military wants to do something, they will do it regardless of whether or not the president gives the ok or not
Do you remember what happened to jfk after he said no to a cuban invasion? He was assassinated and then we went and invaded cuba anyways.
Your points don't have anything to do with believing in a God. Your ideas don't actually align with how people actually view the government. You used the word believe in 2 different ways.
no i said, not anarchists, mostly atheists, because atheists have nothing else to believe in other than the government, or themselves, but then that would make them a satanist.
So where did you get that?
If anything liberalism and atheism go hand in hand
Lol satanists worship satan no they dont, satanism is about self empowerment and worshipping yourself, i think i said in another debate about religion for atheists, i said satan symbolizes mans urge to fulfill his own desires
The church of satan is not, in fact, satanist. It is more or less a secular anti-religion organization; the name 'church of satan' as well as the symbolism associated with satan were picked intentionally to be abrasive towards religious individuals.
There are, in fact, actual satanists- as in those who subscribe to roughly the same beliefs as the Abrahamic religions, but are rooting for the other side.
You are not a Satanist unless you use Satan as the symbol to represent that urge. Not all Atheists do that. Some Atheists just don't care about religion and don't care about Gods at all.
I believe that anything that wants complete faith and loyalty from its followers is stupid. This includes human and supernatural organizations. I am a complete atheist, but I also see the abundance of flaws in the government.
So tell me. How does not believing in God automatically mean that you are a blind follower of the government? I don't see where the fuck you are coming from. I consider myself separate from both of these entities. Frankly, I'm not sure how your brain could concoct something like this. It's a false dilemma; you're argument is WELL GOD OR GOVERNMENT PICK ONE AND ONE IS RIGHT BECAUSE THE OTHER ONE NEEDS TAXES. You're not good at this. In fact you're terrible. Go occupy your life with something else.
Yes, I worship the government every Sunday. I also believe that when I die, I will go to the big senate building and enjoy everlasting political talks. Oh the joy.
If you mean that God is a phenomenon that gives you bless, justice, etc, then somehow it can be similar to government. However, if you are an atheist, you do not have to believe in government neither.
Wrong again, i never said that, i said people who dont believe in god USUALLY treat the government like god, because they FOLLOW THE LAW, are SCARED TO GO TO PRISON, and basically BOW DOWN to the president/king
I never said what you said i said, once again you put words in my mouth, i said people who dont believe in god usually treat the government like it is a god.
And notice the word usually.
Every sing person in this debate has misunderstood the point i am trying to make and all of them have put their own spin on my debate.
All i am trying to say, is if you believe in god, god is your final authority on what you do, not the government.
By not believing in something that has an ultimate authority, its usually your government that acts as said non-believers authority.
I dont see how you can argue that.
Stop twisting my debate, all you people who read this
Government is created by and composed of people. As for God, for those who believe in God, the existence of it is true, and for those who not, false.
Government is in out society because we need it. We needed to bond with each other in an effective way in order to survive. The form of government was then introduced to make a strong country.
God, on the other hand, was created by many reasons which are not the same as those for the creation of government.
Government is necessary; but sometimes for some people it is rather a necessary evil.
When you believe in God, you don't construe it as a necessary evil.
Government is created by and composed of people. As for God, for those who believe in God, the existence of it is true, and for those who not, false.
Religion is created by and composed of people. As for government, the existence of it is true.
Government is in out society because we need it. We needed to bond with each other in an effective way in order to survive. The form of government was then introduced to make a strong country.
Religion used to be in society because it was needed. We needed to bond with each other in an effective way in order to survive. Religion was then introduced to make a strong society.
God, on the other hand, was created by many reasons which are not the same as those for the creation of government.
Reasons you conveniently left out.
Government is necessary; but sometimes for some people it is rather a necessary evil.
God is not necessary, but sometimes for some people it is rather a convenient way to commit evil.
When you believe in God, you don't construe it as a necessary evil.
When you don't believe in God, you realize it is an unneccessary evil.
Religion is created by and composed of people. As for government, the existence of it is true.
God and religion are not the same concept.
Religion used to be in society because it was needed. We needed to bond with each other in an effective way in order to survive. Religion was then introduced to make a strong society.
Think about a world without a government and then about a world without a religion. Then you think about the need.
Reasons you conveniently left out.
and which were obvious.
God is not necessary, but sometimes for some people it is rather a convenient way to commit evil.
I agree.
When you don't believe in God, you realize it is an unnecessary evil.
I agree.
So basically, you agreed with the idea the government is not your god.
That doesn't mean God doesn't get created around religion. Some religions will create a God and some won't. I am saying that when a God is created it usually has a religion to go along with it.
When I said "Government is created by and composed of people. As for God, for those who believe in God, the existence of it is true, and for those who not, false," you said "Religion is created by and composed of people. As for government, the existence of it is true."
I am pointing out that my remark on the difference between the government and God can not be disputed by arguing that there is similarity between the government and religion.
OK, but those weren't differences. There are similarities with religion and government, which is probably what sparked the debate. You did get the parts that are actually different, so overall you are correct.
Silly reasoning in my opinion. Atheism is science and the lack of a need for faith. Just because you are an atheist, doesn't mean you worship the government. It means you respect the authority in this country that you believe will help further this country according to what you believe. Wether it be big government, big corporation, or no government. True atheists use hard facts and support the one that has the most evidence for it. BTW, Atheism is not a form of faith, or religion, it is the lack of. THink of religion as a set of numbers. Atheism would be 0
Nai, I preside over my own life. Of course government has a pretty fucking big influence, in some very insidious ways, but I am the main protagonist in my own life.
