If you had the option to, would you get rid of sleep?

The notion that I could have eight hours more experience per day, amounting to about 23,360 more in my lifetime, is quite attractive to me. I should like to keep sleep as an option, however.

If I could still function properly, not get tired, have more time to do other things, then of course. Only if I always feel like I just slept forever though and am recharged.

I love sleep...no, I really really love sleep...but, it is a time suck. There is too much to do during the day and not enough time. I try to cheat sleep, but it catches up with me. Yes, I would get rid of it!

It's a tough one, because as others mentioned, sleeping is a lot of fun a lot of the time.

Thinking about how much more time you would have though if you never needed to sleep slightly puts me on this side I think... It would take some serious consideration though.

Without that time used up, you could get so much more done. Also, the feeling when you've just woken up, and you feel groggy and horrible is so bad, so I would probably choose to get rid of it. This is as long as my body could function just fine without it, and I wouldn't feel tired etc.

Side: yes

I would get rid of the need, but I'd keep it as a recreational activity. Like eating junk food, or playing video games. I don't need them but they are fun none the less.

I hate having to sleep .

Yes, do you realize that we spend 1/3 of our lives being unconscious! It's such a waste! Think of all the things you could get done and have free time to spare. Yep, if I could get rid of sleep (without feeling tired) I would definitely do it.

Sleep is a source of pleasure so I would not want to get rid of it. The physical and neurological chemistry provides the body a source of comfort and relaxation. If you have a day off, it feels good to take a nap on a comfy couch or in a park next to a stream. I would not want to give that up so I could "get more done". Life is not all about getting things done...

No I would not get rid of sleep. Sleep is an important part because you can rest your body and if you get a good night sleep you will feel refreshed. If you don't sleep at all you would be constantly tired and you won't know whats going on and stuff.

No, if you don't sleep at all you will eventually die.

That's not the fucking question though. The question is if you could get rid or it... as in if you wouldn't be tired and whatnot from not sleeping.

I mean... really? How did you not get that?

Side: Maybe

No. You wouldn't be able to heal quickly or regenerate that energy and focus for the next day. Also you won't remember things efficiently. Sleeping helps you recover all the data or info you absorbed in your day. Sleep also allows you to drift off into dreams where the brain is free to think and expand its imagination. You brain is working to store everything you did that day. Sleeping is just incredibly essential for health.
