“In the 1960s, the Communist Party of India formed India's first democratically elected communist government when it won elections in the states of Kerala and later West Bengal. However, when a global recession began in the late 1970s, economic stagnation, chronic shortages and state inefficiency left many disillusioned with state socialism. In the late 1980s and 1990s, India's government began to systematically liberalise the Indian economy by pursuing privatisation, aiming to attract foreign investment.” Side: Facts
"Communists, capitalists, Stalinism. We all know how THAT will work out, don't we? Communists, Stalinists (if you make a distinction), used a non-democratic, socialist system to rape a country, feed the ego of a "strong leader" … anything sound familiar? The life expectancy of social-medicine European countries and Canada, etc. are pretty damned good and the "lifestyle" is SOOO much better than Maoist China … PLUS, they all allow somewhat regulated capitalism …. WINNER! ;-) Side: Facts

India wasn't Capitalist in 1979. Now that it is Capitalist, it's life expectancy is higher. Life expectancy in general has increased in first world nations because medical technology and medicine has increased, among other factors. Not only that but India actually was capitalist in 1979.
