In the Catholic church, should women be allotws to become priests

As most people know, only men are allowed to become priests in the catholic church. Do you think it's about time that women are allowed to become priests. Australia, for example has a law that prohibits discrimination for job applicants, I don't know the position of the law in the U.S. (if you know please inform me). If you agree with female priests, should the law intervene?

There is no reason for why women can't be priests other than blatant sexism. All duties that are performed by male priests can be performed by female ones.

I think that if they want to, then they should. I don't think the demand is high enough for their to be an argument though.

But I do not think that the government should be able to intervene. We have separation of church and state for a reason, and though I know it's not like that anywhere, it's a good way to keep religions on there own.

Side: yes

There is no basis to deny women from becoming priests. Women have every right to become a priest.

Well, I was raised Catholics, and they have their reasoning that I don't really care much about.

But the great thing about Competition is that it applies to almost anything. The consumer is always right, and if the the Catholics started deciding that women should become priests, they would make their demand.

Of course, that is not a big enough case at the moment. Demand is low, so supply is low.

Side: No

Why? Catholic doctrine forbids it. If a women wishes to be a Catholic priest, it's tough luck. They obviously don't agree with the church they wish to represent. Send them to the nunnery.
