I don't think many Americans have an issue with this anymore. This was something that worried people in the 1950's, not now. My sister is marrying an Italian/Filipino/Spaniard later this month and it doesn't even phase us. My uncle married a Korean woman a few years ago with no problem. The only people against interracial marriage, as a whole, are racist.

I think nothing of interracial marriages. But, I disagree that they're a thing of the past. My grandfather used to be a notary public with his own wedding chapel and florist. At the wedding chapel, they got a lot of business of interracial couples who could not find anyone else who would agree to marry them. This was the mid to late 90's!! So, we're not over it yet. At least not in the South.

The answer is, it's good, since humans are one race, and a non-interracial marrige would be with a something not human.

But, if you are talking about the superficial differences we call race because we're dumb. That's good too, because as pung said, you want to spread the gene pool as much as possible.

That said though, we've been around a long time compared to the span of one human life, and there's no gaurantee you are not just as, or more closely related to one of a different skin color, than to one of your own skin color.

Take that cop and the prof in the news recently, geneoligists discovered they're related... I mean, you can't get two more dissimilar looking people on earth I think.

It's just more likely you're not, so if you want a better chance at strong, healthy, and bright children, knock up someone with different color skin.

I don't have a problem with it at all. I find it likely that I won't be falling in love with someone of the same ethnicity as mine (family things, I hate my family's style, and odds are, that's how her family will be).

I guess the only bad thing to come from it is we lose diversity when everyone's mixed. But luckily, that's unlikely to happen anytime soon. Seriously, if everyone was brown and the same height, i'd just about shit myself.

I truly believe interracial marriages are a thing of the past. In the 50's and 60's and somewhat into the 70's it was still taboo but we've come along way in this regard. It's funny though, every time the subject is brought up it still seems to revolve around blacks and whites and no other races. I don't know why that is but it is a fact of life here in the USA. The military has come along way in condoning these marriages as well. Years ago they were told if they married someone of the country they were stationed in they wouldn't be able to bring their wives home with them. This, of course, was meant to discourage such marriages. I'm happy to say that this no longer happens and for my part, I see this as a beautiful thing. To love and marry and be happy together is what it's all about in life.

I love how people keep mentioning interracial marriages in such a way to indicate how awkward it is, yet on the surface they state how normal it is.

Were does one start without being called racist, closed minded, open minded, risk taker or a long list of names. Some of these names one could never put in writing or should never put in writing. I want to start at the beginning of the dating scene. Let me go back to that talk our parents gave us, years ago. A talk that started with them being more uncomfortable than us, that birds and bees talk.

I think that what we believe is what we are taught. Let me go in to detail about that little talk we had about those birds and bees that influenced us.

I have always been confused about this little talk. Which is the male and female? The bee has the stinger, the male I think. Does this me guys should find a gal much bigger than themselves? In recent years I have realized that maybe a bee should stay within his own species and the bird should stay with in their own species. Maybe this is the true meaning of this talk. Hear me out, I am not prejudice, but I am looking at the facts. If this bird and bee have children, What would they be? Would they be a bee or a bird? I have put a lot of thought into this question and have come up with the answer to this. This child of theirs would be neither a bird or a bee. This child of theirs would be a humming bird. A humming bird for life, never fitting the lifestyle of the birds or the bees. A new species that is completely different than either parent.

Should we do this to our children? I do not the answer to this question, but don't parents already do a good job of screwing up our lives. What they fail to accomplish, we do a pretty good job of finishing what they started. I do not see anything wrong with humming birds and they seem quite happy. Maybe society can handle a new species, it worked out for the humming birds. The humming birds have people feeding them, the birds have people feeding them, only the bees are left to feed themselves.

Maybe it is not about race, color of skin, believes, where we live, but if we sting that makes us the outcast. We can have these relationships and it is not that we have them that is the problem, but how we treat others, that is the problem. If one stings somebody, don't be surprised when you get smashed against the glass. Live your life anyway you so desire, just don't go buzzing around like you are better than everyone else.

I think it is important to keep an open mind when deciding on who you want to spend the rest of your life with. It is easy to look at a person of the opposite sex who is not white/tan/black and label them with a certain stereotype. I mean, of course there is a certain type of female I am looking for, but as far as color is concerned, I consider myself color-blind in the matter.

Well if you're a racist you just might have a problem with that. But other than that, um we are in the 20th century. The winning position really says it loud and clear.

I don't think many people really care. Sleep with and marry whoever you want to- what consenting adults do is up to them. As long as you aren't pushy and obnoxious about your interracial marriage, or racist and an ass about people who are in them, I couldn't care less.
