I think it's the best debate site, and I've tried all the others. This place just seems to have a much better community, a cooler interface, and more features than any of the other sites. I hope that CreateDebate continues to grow and add more users because I love the variety of opinions I find here. Side: Yes because,

Well, I don't know exactly... I wasn't really looking for a debate site. I was googling something ---I even forgot what I was googling--- but the results brought me here and I've been stuck every since. Believe it or not, I don't particularly care for debating, but I tend to disagree with almost every widely held belief out there, except that maybe we should legalize marijuana. Side: Yes because,

Well, first, good debate requires free speech. Now this is actually a good test, because I do not agree with the idea that CreateDebate is the best debate site. There are a few other "decent" sites like "debate.org", "riledup", "whereistand", and CreateDebate is certainly better than those. However, I would say that "Argumentum" (see link below), is more sophisticated, yet simpler at the same time. Seems like an oxymoron, but the best sites (google) "seem" simple to the observer, but there is a lot more going on underneath. It features far superior integration with Facebook, Blogger, Twitter, and email.. and is more thoroughly grounded scientifically. It is based on concepts from argumentation theory: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Side: No Because,

I'll argue the no position because, well, we don't have any point of reference. If you'd link to a couple more debate sites in the debate topic, maybe we could actually judge, but I don't know any other sites dedicated to real debate. I'm a member of several political forums, but those are just regular discussion forums, not actual "debate". Side: No Because,

well no because I believe debate.org and debatewise.org are quite better in debate.org you make your own topic or resolution let others see it and whoever is first to want to debate you does and you either have 3-5 rounds depends on debate creator and the people who have been following the debate decide who wins basically the same with debatewise. I don't know if it's the best but I'm gonna give it a shot. Debate.org now stinks. There was a mass exodus, all the interesting people left because of all the trolls. All that's left are uninteresting people who are trying to fill the vacuum, and kids who want to debate about cartoons and have rap battles. The site itself is set up very well, and easy to figure out but it doesn't really matter if the people aren't any fun. Side: Yes because,

While I am admittedly a little biased, I believe there are a few problems with this site. First, the voting mechanic can cause issues for unpopular correct ideas to be voted against. Secondly, there is no direct continuity between debates, in multiple debates contradictory conclusions can simultaneously be reached. I've been working on a debate site of my own (INeedAReason.com) and I think it solves some of these structural problems. I'd love to get some feed back on it. Side: No Because,

CreateDebate may be the greatest debate site on the web right now, but once http://www.frostedwit.com launches, CreateDebate's going to become number 2. Side: No Because,

I don't know, the new site Particibate looks really promising. In addition to debates, you can do discussions, petitions, and promote your causes. Sort of a one-stop shop for turning discourse into advocacy. Side: No Because,
