Is HONOR the default, or is CROOKEDNESS

Hello:

I ask because I BELIEVE that honor is the default..  CPA's, for example, have a fiduciary DUTY to their clients..  Lawyers have a DUTY to represent their client to the best of their ability..

But, I'm not asking about what's EXPECTED of people.  I'm asking whether, in the main, people MEET those expectations.

I
think they DO, but I'm a bleeding heart liberal and I WANNA believe the best about people..

Honor is SUPPOSED to be the default, but, all is not what it's supposed to be ... all the time.

The Constitution is supposed to keep U.S. honorable, but SOME try to twist and bend it to mean other than it was intended to mean ... and that's NOT honorable ... neither is ignoring it! That's why I am a liberal, my heart doesn't bleed about it, I HAVE voted Republican a few times ... not likely again... there are few Republicans left. (no pun intended). To dishonor America you must be one of those "deplorables", and there are too many of them around, thus, "crookedness" is amok today. THAT'S what MY heart bleeds about!

Crazy AL you alright today ? Maybe you need your meds ? Just as the Basement Boy known as excon does ! Do either of you understand the meaning of default ?

failure to fulfill an obligation, especially to repay a loan or appear in a court of law.

a preselected option adopted by a computer program or other mechanism when no alternative is specified by the user or programmer.

So in the confused mind of the two of you explain default to me where it is applied to the heading of the post !

Outhouse60:

In a word YES! And Obama was also. Trump doesn't KNOW the Constitution, he simply manufactures it as he goes along. Obama was a professor of Constitutional Law, Hillary was a Lawyer who also understood, and had worked within it for many years. Trump had only heard that it existed, didn't give a DAMN about it if it didn't allow HIM to do as he wished ... plain and simple!

I suppose that, given the inherent feeling of wrongness one develops when hearing or being subjected to wrongdoing (as opposed to indifference, which would indicate normalcy), it follows that the population is generally moral.

Only if one is positively inclined toward the target of the wrongdoing. If we dislike the person it happens to we are usually indifferent or pleased.

Everybody complains about politicians. Everybody says they suck. Well, where do people think these politicians come from? They don’t fall out of the sky. They don’t pass through a membrane from another reality. They come from American parents and American families, American homes, American schools, American churches, American businesses and American universities, and they are elected by American citizens. This is the best we can do folks. This is what we have to offer. It’s what our system produces: Garbage in, garbage out. If you have selfish, ignorant citizens, you’re going to get selfish, ignorant leaders. Term limits ain’t going to do any good; you’re just going to end up with a brand new bunch of selfish, ignorant Americans. So, maybe, maybe, maybe, it’s not the politicians who suck. Maybe something else sucks around here… like, the public. Yeah, the public sucks. There’s a nice campaign slogan for somebody: ‘The Public Sucks. Fuck Hope.’

It is natural to do what is best for oneself at the expense of others. On the other hand as social creatures our fate is bound to others and so we historically needed to be pro-social to survive. In most situations both these innate drives push us to cooperate with others. When there is no social cost to an evil act however our natural inclination is to crookedness. This is only overcome by empathizing with the victim(s) of the act "I wouldn't like it if it were me".
