Is Obama being unfairly criticized, or is too much being expected of our new president?

Do you think that President is using a fair approach to solve the problems we are facing here in America? Some people claim that he is trying to 'clean up a mess which he clearly did not make" whilst others say that part of being a President and leader is trying to make changes and to help resolve issues whether some of them are the product of your leadership or under someone's else leadership. Lastly, do you think, that we are expecting too much in so little time from our newly elected President?

Yes, because this President or others are expected of too much.

Yes and no.

There is no quick fix to the problems our country faces. Bush didn't do it all, it took more than 8 years to get to the problems our nation faces today, but no we aren't expecting too much either. He made big promises, so now we are just expecting him to follow through with the promises he made. True it's only been 2 years, but when he ran he didn't say "We will make changes, it will just take 8 years" he just said he'd make changes.

He also had to know that there would be an election right in the middle of his term so that he was under a time limit to make the kinds of changes he promised. So I think he made some big promises that he just can't deliver.

I think so. Bush to such a great job at fucking this country up so we wanted a quick fix.

The 24hr news cycle is too much. There just isn't that much news. In the news negatives sell, so even MSNBC spends more time criticizing him for not being liberal enough, than pointing out the good things he's done.

Given the political climate, economy, and more than twice as many filibusters each year of his presidency than ever before, he's actually done quite a bit of good.

His numbers reflect this in polls. He has higher approval than democrats, republicans, either house of congress, and he beats every potential candidate who may run against him.

I think cable news outlets (obviously Fox, but I don't even count them as news. If Obama saved a puppy from drowning they'd scream government overreach) do not really reflect public opinion in light of polls. They spend a lot of time sensationalizing.

We had a horrible president prior to our current, with a campaign slogan of HOPE we put all of our eggs into one basket: ultimately leading us as Americans to question a president who is doing a dammed good job.

We as a country were looking for a quick fix for everything. Even though Obama clearly stated in several debates that he wouldn't reach any of his goals in under 6 years; everyone looked past that and as one year turns into the next we get further into believing Rush Limbaugh and all of the other ignorant politicians who care about: staying politicians and supporting what the majority of their side believes no matter what the circumstance.

Ultimately Obama needs some slack.

It is now 2015 and the President is still being unfairly criticized mainly by Republican sore losers.

It's a little of both. Obama made some big promises when he was campaigning, and people expected him to fulfill those promises. He clearly couldn't solve all of the problems are nation faced, and voters took their anger out on the Dems in November.

On the other hand there is the Tea Party who unfairly criticizes President Obama, and makes baseless insults to try to derail Obama. At the same time they tarnish the GOP's image.

The GOP's tarnished their own image by selling out their party during Bush's presidency. They forced the Tea Party to come out of the woodwork.

What? The Tea Party didn't "come out of the woodwork" until Obama was elected.

He spoke about having all the solutions and now those solutions are changing. He is clearly in way over his head.
