Is President trump making a mistake with Syria?

I don't even know what his policy is on it to be honest. But if he isn't leaving it the hell alone he's making a mistake, yes. This might surprise you, but most of the problems with Middle Eastern terror groups have been caused by the fact that at one stage America funded them to fight off someone they viewed as a threat. They became more powerful, and over time turned on their puppetmasters, coming to the conclusion that they are the enemy. It happened with al Qaeda, the Taliban, and with ISIS too (i.e. not the organisation itself, which was really caused by resistance to the American invasion of Iraq, but rather recruitment, as a lot of the fighters came from Syrian groups which had been funded by America to go after Assad).

Side: Yes.

The Kurdish people were supposed to be our allies, but Trump withdrawing US troops from Syria, has made them vulnerable to attack, and forced the Kurds to align themselves with the authoritarian regime of Syria. Both parties are condemning Trump for this.

Rather that than cause a war with Turkey. The truth is the Americans always dump their allies the moment they cease to be of worth anyway. That's one of the reasons there is so much anti-American tension in the Middle East.

You have to understand that this is politics, and it really comes down to narrative and the use of language. Presently, the narrative is to humanise the Kurds so Americans identify and empathise with them. Equally, the YPG (i.e. the group who were being supported) is little more than a terrorist front for the PKK (i.e. A Kurdish terror group which operates out of Turkey). They are not choir boys, so to speak.

Look, I'll bash Trump all day long about most things, but I think getting the hell out of Syria is probably for the best. Let them fight their own battles.

Side: Yes.

No matter what Trump does, the Democrats will crucify him for it. If he wanted to stay in syria and fight, Democrats would call him a war monger.

When he pulls our troops out for safety and military savings, Democrats crucify him.

It matters not if you have been paying attention these past 3 years.

Some republicans have an issue as well. I don't view this as a left or right thing, but I think the President could handle things better. I love him dearly as my neighbor, but I am not onbligated to auto agree with any political leader, in order to be Christian, or patriotic. Kurds are dying, and many evangelical, and Republican leaders are concerned as well. Are they all leftists, just for questioning the President? I am in the center, and it depends on the issue who I agree with. Am I a leftist because I disagree with the President. I long for an America, where we can just be Americans, instead of being so divided. Jesus said a house divided against ittself, will not stand.

You do realize that people are being killed around the world, in Africa, in third world nations, etc.

Do you honestly think America can be in every nation around the world protecting everyone?

This is what the pathetic United Nations is suppose to be doing, but they are a bunch of Leftists who do nothing to actually protect the innocent.

Where are the Socialist European nations? I thought the Left was suppose to be compassionate? Why are their armies not taking America's place to protect people?

Democrats would be cheering if Trump were a Democrat and pulled out! They cheered Obama leaving Iraq to allow ISIS to come to power.

I did not say I agreed with Trump on this, but I have the intellect to know America can not afford to be the only peace keepers to the world. These Arab nations bring on their own misery and then expect America to keep them safe from their own Islamic hatred.
