Unfortunately, it is. Democracy killed Socrates and banished Plato, so that doesn't work because people will execute anyone they consider "corrupting the youth". In a Republic, shit like that still happens, but politicians know how to play the game and are focused more on power than they are on ideology (except for the indy politicians like Nader and Barr). So they don't do stupid shit like that. They do stupid shit, but not like that... Side: yes
In a flawed world like the one we live in it is. The idea of people getting to elect other to represent them serves the better good of the people because everyone is represented and has a say in things through their leader while at the same time does not have to take much time out of their life to vote on every single bill. The flaws are that there is too many different view points and because of this less things can get done and it takes longer to get stuff passed. However, if there is corruption then the people can take action by making sure the person does not get re-elected and the politician must also be somewhat honest if they want to hold office. In a world without corruption I'd say that a socialist dictatorship is the best form of government. Since the government is looking out for everyone rather than themselves the people as a whole prosper instead of just a select few. Since it is a dictatorship that means that legislation gets done a lot quicker because of no debating in a Congress or Parliament. Flaws are while this idea looks great on paper when applied to the real world it fails. Side: No
