I grew up during the rock generation, going to dances where the Hollies, Walker Brothers, Gene Vincent, The Kinks, Joe Cocker, Jerry and the Pacemakers, The Animals, The Stones and many many many more played on small stages where the dancers were so close you could reach out and touch them and the amplifiers belted out pure rock and roll. It was a great time to be alive in the 60's, work was easy to get, we had money in our pockets, motorbikes or cars and so music filled every weekend driving around the UK to concerts in aircraft hangers, clubs, etc etc in London and venues in the counties. Side: Yes, it is.
First off, let's get something straight here. Pop isn't really it's own genre of music. Yes, it has been made one by man, but technically it isn't. I hope all of you who are voting for pop know what it stands for... "popular". Yes that's right, popular music. See the thing with rock is you have a drum beat on top of a bassline, on top of a rhythm guitar, on top of lead guitar, on top of vocals. All 5 might be different melodies, but they combine to make something beautiful. Whereas when you take the vocals away from pop music, all you get is a synth-beat. No joke, it's as simple as that. Side: Yes, it is.
